Thru the streets of old towne Pontevedra.

25th at age group world championships… not something I thought I’d be saying, but what an experience. Little margin for error in this distance and can say this was the best race execution I’ve completed.

Early this year I went from the best shape I’d ever been in into a summer of setbacks with 2 concussion protocols just 3 months apart, but I kept showing up. It felt like survival at times.

This year has taught me a lot about patience when things don’t go smoothly and reminded me that at the end of it is a blessing.

Showing up is half the fight, the other half is finishing it.
Accomplished the goal I had set and did it in PR fashion in the water and on the run on a pretty technical course🤠

The last 365 days have formed this moment.

Sure there’s been disappointments.
Injuries.
Missed start lines along the way.

But every decision to keep going when it wasn’t fun or easy has earned this moment with the reminder that something greater awaited.

2 weeks until Olympic distance World Championships.

Dancin’ in Detroit.

Took my first overall win on a trip north for a final tune up before world championships. A solid session that had a lot left in the tank and trailed a lifetime best by under a half second which was the confidence boost I needed after a long season so far.

The journey this season will make the arrival in Spain much sweeter and I look forward to it.

A wild weekend at the lake, but proud of how we stayed focused and flexible with the ever changing conditions. Not a bad place to be coming off a quick 8 week build after injury.

Got a monster PR bike/run combo done despite an unfortunate spoof costing me time on the bike and a numb leg for about 10 miles on the run.

Saw some familiar faces local to Cincinnati, and met some new ones on the course. This community is what makes this sport so special.

Time to rest up a bit after getting banged up and shift focus back to olympic distance for world championships in Pontevedra in September 🇺🇸 taken in Sandusky, Ohio by @gerardniermann

Love the process.
Don’t take yourself too serious.
Be comfortable uncomfortable.
Never count yourself out.

Perseverance produces endurance.

Keep going.

2 weeks out from my third start line at a 70.3. It’ll be my 10th triathlon start line in a little over a year of the sport.

The wilderness is often the place where God places us in times of formation, refinement, and realignment.

Don’t let old habits distract you from the future blessings.

We have a God who will provide in the wilderness, but we must be aware that we don’t slip back into old ways as he guides us to his promises.

The Israelites struggled with this, which led to the wandering.

The pattern isn’t often a tangible one, it’s often the same loop that replays in our mind. We get so accustomed to being a slave to negative patterns that we get distracted from being able to step fully into His promises and provisions. Until perspective changes, the loop replays.

I use to live in this pattern. I thought suffering brought me closer to God more than delighting in Him. Suffering does draw us near, but God prefers our delight and enjoyment in the gifts He gives us because it gives glory to the Provider who delights in His children.

We are fortunate to sit on this side of the cross, tangible freedom to the bonds that use to crush us. This is why He calls us to remember his ways.

The Father doesn’t want you to stay in fear, He wants you to enjoy him fully as the one who gives freely.

The good news in through Christ, every change and bond that has kept us stuck is broken. Redemption is possible because of who He is. by @gerardniermann
