When God answers, He doesn’t just give direction—He tests our motives.

Are we anchoring ourselves in selfishness or in surrender?
It takes radical faith to trust an answer that stretches us beyond our comfort zone. Over a month ago, I was stuck on a 4-hour commute back home due to a train delay that forced us all to find alternate routes. The delay happened because someone was on a bridge, contemplating ending their life. As we waited, a man nearby snapped in frustration: “She needs to hurry up and jump so we can go home.”

I couldn’t shake those words for weeks. I didn’t want to publicly embarrass him, but I felt deeply convicted to say something. I knew I’d see him again on my usual commute.

A month passed. Nothing. Then, after a sleepless night, I caught an early train; and there he was. Exhaustion took over. I made excuses, telling myself I’d talk to him on the way out, but he turned one way, and I turned the other. I missed my moment, and I knew I had been disobedient out of convenience. So, I asked God for another chance.

A week ago, another train delay forced us all onto buses. As I stepped aboard, guess who walked on right after me? God literally rerouted our paths so we’d be standing side by side.
I knew I couldn’t walk away a second time.

I asked for two minutes of his time, brought up that day, and gently shared how much those words had weighed on me. To my surprise, he received it with grace. He apologized, sharing how stressed and frustrated he had been that day.

Here is what I learned:
God speaks to us far more often than we realize. When He calls us to step out, we either go all in or miss the moment. And amazingly, when I stopped chasing my own timing, He brought the opportunity straight to me to test my heart.

Obedience is hard, uncomfortable, and rarely convenient; do it anyway. You never know how a simple conversation, led by grace, might plant a seed or change a life.
