What a memorable and fabulous week in Czechia and Germany, exploring, demoing, and listening to the magic of KV2 Audio! 🎧✨ A huge thank you to Max, Dominik, and Jonathan for inviting me to the factory in Tábor, Czechia, and introducing me to the world of KV2 Audio. The magic behind these speakers is a reflection of the meticulous intention, craftsmanship, and care that everyone at the company brings. When I asked about the secret sauce behind their incredible sound, I heard a consistent answer throughout the trip: never compromise on quality, starting at the source. Every little decision matters, and the sum of those choices is what makes the final product so extraordinary. And what a product! Getting to play in the audio playground that is the demo room was a dream come true. Revisiting old and new content I’ve created over the years, hearing familiar sounds in an entirely new way, and experiencing the nuances of my work through these speakers was an absolute treat. And the cherry on top? Experiencing KV2 Audio in action at The Lion King in Hamburg, Germany. An unforgettable way to bring the week full circle! It’s been a week since we opened, but mentally I’m still shimmying at the Stardust! ✨ I remember in college, a professor of mine telling me, “You have to connect with Niegel Smith at the Flea. I think you two would work well together.” Well!!! Things happen when they’re supposed to, because this was truly the intersection of the right time and the right people. And it really does feel full circle to lead Sound Design at The Flea after supporting this organization for so many years. Musicals are my happy place, but anyone who truly knows me knows that nightlife was my first theatre. So for 17-year-old Germán, who would sneak out of his grandparents’ house to go clubbing in the city… this show was for me! To shape this nightlife spectacle with The Illustrious Blacks, who have been endlessly generous and warm, has been the greatest pleasure. Thank you for your trust in me. It is my honor to work with you both! ICONS!! 🪩✨ Thank you to everyone at The Flea for the tremendous amount of support. A show like this is a MAJOR lift, and it brings me so much pride and joy to know that we made this possible through some TLC from some incredibly talented humans. To my collaborators—Oscar, Deshon, Kate, and the team SM—you all inspire me to work better and think further outside the box. Thank you for pushing me to reach higher standards! Thank you to my new friends at 4Wall! First time working together, and I’m so grateful for the support! Thank you to old friends who have come to the stardust and had a great time! It’s been a week since the opening of Carmela Full of Wishes, and I just want to share how full of love I am from this experience. ❤️ It feels like winning the lottery when you get to uplift a beautiful piece that celebrates the everyday people who sustain a community; when you get to create alongside artists who motivate and inspire you to imagine harder; and when you’re supported by an institution filled with spectacular staff and a team that cares deeply and wants nothing more than to see the work shine. So many dreams are interrupted by forces outside of our control. That feels especially evident today, as our political climate continues to threaten and disrupt the lives of so many, with ICE’s presence weighing heavily on our communities. Carmela Full of Wishes is a reminder that we are stronger together—and that relentless joy can be an antidote to adversity. It means the world to me to celebrate the people of our community with dignity and respect. Even more so, to have the opportunity to do it with intention, skill, and care. This experience has been overflowing with generosity, artistry, and so much love from this beautiful company. Thank you, Alliance Theatre for making my first time so memorable, Dell for being an incredible collaborator and for trusting me with this story, and thank you to every single person who poured themselves into this work. First time in Chicago, complete! I can’t begin to tell you how much I needed this. How much coming here reignited a flame in me. The way it all happened at the exact right time. It both opened my eyes to new possibilities, and healed many parts of me. It’s been a short time, but a very impactful and abundant time. I feel very blessed about where my life is able to take me, and the access I have. Que bonito es mi vida. ¡Chicago, lo tienes todo! And before the month is over, I wanted to celebrate an official year of Heathers The Musical! I feel blessed to have spent the better part of a year supporting this production with some of the most brilliantly talented humans. I’m in awe of all of the work put in to keep this beast of show going strong. 18 year old Germán, who was cheering so loud at the closing night performance that he lost his voice the next day, would be so proud of this full circle moment. The Cottage is finally open! I remember Sleep No More being such a formative theatrical experience growing up; and to now have a musical at the former Mckittrick Hotel is such a full circle moment! Incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such a great sound team. I could not have done this without their skill and artistry, it makes me proud of the collective work we’ve done. The show is in very good hands. Endless gratitude to Dylan and Alan for trusting me at every juncture. It means the world to me to make sure I do right for the show, and for the two of you. It’s truly a wonderful feeling to step back and see how much joy a show can bring to the public. This is why I do it: to do good work with wonderful people. To more of these! What a gift it is for my ribs to hurt from laughing so much, for my face to ache from smiling too hard. Last week felt like a dream—and I still haven’t woken up. ✨ To be surrounded by so many like-minded, talented, vibrant artists, all being celebrated for our magic, was something sacred. Those two nights of community left an imprint I’ll carry with me. Spending time with this brilliant cohort reminded me that every decision I’ve made has led me here. That the path I’ve forged was not in vain. And most importantly—to always trust my gut. I feel complete. I feel seen. And I feel hungry for what’s next. I did it once… now it’s time to do it again, and reach even greater heights. I’m fueled by my community, by those who believe in me, and by the legacy I’m building. Thank you to @intartheatre for believing in me—seeing VÁMONOS on that screen among such giants was a proud, humbling moment. Thank you for being an artistic home. To @jesstothepaz and @jaredmezzocchi thank you for keeping me grounded, for sharing this moment, and for wiping away the tears when the magic felt too real to believe.
