We missed our moment of known entanglement. Prior to the puzzle, we were talking about the Taylor Farms debacle and how thankful we are that we have access to local, seasonal veggies and true farm raised eggs here in Germany. Christopher went on to say he doubts this is what Lincoln and Grover had in mind when the Dept of Agriculture was created back in 1862 and then elevated to Cabinet-level status in 1899. Our conversation meandered through poultry farms and when he had Tyson as an account when we lived in Arkansas and back to how it is truly difficult to get food that is not owned by a huge corporation who then puts several different labels on the food depending on which store it is going to. Anyway, we were reviewing the puzzle last night when we noticed the clue, “Cabinet dept since 1899.” The answer was “AGR” as in Dept of Agriculture.
