Princess Diana, painted by myself and @sequinkay for the ICONS COLLECTION by Sequin&Kinch. by @gerrykinch.art

Most artists hope that their work will transcend the boundaries of material; few are prepared to mould light itself to ensure it. A dazzling new collaboration between Sequin Kay @sequinkay and Gerry Kinch @gerrys.art.signs sees the immortalisation of feminine icons achieved through sparkling, multidimensional portraits embellished with Swarovski crystals. Maisy Nichols interviewed Sequin and Gerry ahead of the collection’s reveal, delving into their artistic processes, enduring inspirations, and all things bright and bejewelled. The recent unveiling of the ICON COLLECTION itself brought a star studded audience to Sheesh in Mayfair where guests viewed their artwork. See the link in our bio to read the full article.

More from Veronica Lake, Did you know her Career Beginnings:

Lake’s career took off with her role in the film “I Wanted Wings” (1941), which showcased her distinctive peek-a-boo hairstyle.

Her signature hairstyle, with a cascade of blonde hair covering one eye, became hugely popular and was widely imitated.
During World War II, she changed her hairstyle after being encouraged by the U.S. government, as it was impractical for women working in factories.

Lake starred in several film noirs and comedies, including “Sullivan’s Travels” (1941), “This Gun for Hire” (1942), “The Glass Key” (1942), and “The Blue Dahlia” (1946).
She often co-starred with actor Alan Ladd, and their on-screen chemistry was well-received.

Personal Challenges:
Despite her professional success, Lake faced many personal difficulties, including struggles with mental health and alcoholism

Her enigmatic beauty is captured in this painting, more to be revealed 🤍✨💫

“I painted this ‘Tree of Life’ on 23.75 carat gold leaf. The entire canvas was gilded and varnished twice before I started painting. Using acrylics to avoid long drying times, this project demanded patience and dedication, almost monastic in nature. After completing the painting, I varnished it twice more with Polyvine water-based satin for protection.

Initially framed in a tray frame to avoid covering any part of the artwork, the client later requested the edges be gilded too, considering the piece sacred. I agreed, appreciating the sentiment. This painting was a special gift for her husband’s 50th birthday, a truly lovely and thoughtful gesture.”
