RESEARCH PROJECT: Call for help (photographs, artifacts, stories, anecdotes) — NORTEL NETWORKS, 60 MOODIE DRIVE, OTTAWA, ON — 1990s to 2000s

Hello everyone, I’m working on an exciting research project for one of my courses taught by Profs. Peter Coffman and Michael Windover. The course is Architecture in Canada and my chosen topic is… NORTEL! Almost everyone living in Ottawa has heard of, or has worked for, Nortel (before the company went bankrupt lol). But I think that were it not for this company, the city of Ottawa wouldn’t have a hi-tech sector today. More importantly, were it not for Ottawa’s hi-tech sector (‘Silicon Valley North’) powered the Kanata North Business Association, the nation’s economy would look starkly different. These stories and more can be told for the first time through an architectural analysis of the Carling Campus site, which I hope can capture the attention and imagination of the general public. Ottawa is a world-class hub for talent, innovation, research, and culture, and at least one major chapter in our city’s history is that of Nortel.
