Title: The Ellie Badge
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 8” x 10”
Date of Creation: July 2026
Starting Price: $100
Description:

Inspired by the modern Disney classic Up (2009) directed by Pete Docter, this piece is a testament to the enduring power of love and adventure. A bottle-cap and a safety pin, gently worn with age, stand stark against an explosion of colors. Perhaps, as years went by, some of the letters wore off and were painted back on… you don’t just throw something like that away!

The swirling blues of the background play softly against the bold reds and yellows in the foreground, reminiscent of sunburst flowers. These forms were made by stamping paint-covered balloons onto the canvas, and even the green “stems” that float by look almost like the balloon strings.
On the back of the canvas, safely tucked away, are three fresh balloons. May these tokens bring the next owner of this joyful little piece a sense of fun, and help them start their next adventure.

“Russell, for assisting the elderly, and for performing above and beyond the call of duty, I would like to award you the highest honor I can bestow: The Ellie Badge.”
-Mr. Carl Fredricksen

Title: Nestled (or Gilding the Lily)
Medium: Mixed Media on Framed Glass
Size: 10.5” x 8.5” x 3”
Date of Creation: March 2026
Starting Price: $100
Description:

Four yellow roses stand like blooming sentinels around the remains of a young bird, gently resting upon fallen petals, encrusted with dew-drop.
A surreal scene (and one, as alway, ethically sourced) of a forest floor, frozen forever in a golden frame. Shellacked to preserve its peaceful tranquility, this Memento Mori is both oddity and shrine.

Title: Use Your Words Next Time
Medium: Mixed Media on Canvas
Size: 6” x 6”
Date of Creation: February 2026
Starting Price: $35
Description:

A beheaded snake, lying near the site where it was struck, bleeds in stark geometry, with reality presented in very simple terms.

A shellacked, ethically-sourced snake carcass (found already mummified on a city sidewalk), is starkly wrong against a shimmering sea of purple, royal and highly-regarded. The blood is spray paint, and the torn canvas (evoking the impact left from an unseen blade) reveals a bright yellow of a different, foamy texture.
Something lurks and warps beneath the surface that we will never see.
We, the audience are witnessing the aftermath of some altercation, and we have conflicting clues and evidence that makes Truth uncertain.

But, regarding the title of the piece, whom do you think is speaking?
Is the statement spoke by the one who carried the blade? Did the snake attack, and the carrier retaliate? This would make the scene ironic. Funny, even. Deserved.
Or
Is this a message from the snake to its killer? Could the creature have been simply living, posing no threat, and was killed just for Being? This would make the wielder of the blade barbaric, irrational, something less moral than an animal. This would make the scene a tragedy, and the title a plea for change.

You, Viewer, also hold a blade.
Whom do you think is speaking?

Title: We Should Be So Lucky
Medium: Mixed Media on Canvas
Size: 6” x 6”
Date of Creation: November 2025
Starting Price: $152
Description:
Made from three (real) spider webs and a house fly - all harvested in and around our home - this piece is a meditation on mortality.
A stark black, spray painted canvas with golden, organic material strewn like stardust across the cosmos. The fly, shellac’ed and frozen in time, awaits the inevitable end… the instrument of its demise never to be seen.

Because of the nature of the paint, the webs cannot be “sealed” without losing their lustre. Only the fly remains - unchanged in physical form - whilst the majesty of time and nature moves around it, forever.

Rarely are we gifted the knowledge of our final resting place, and even less often time to contemplate it. Will we be confronted with fear in that moment? Regret? Peace?
In this piece, at least, the smallest of creatures is gifted a beautiful place to rest.
