Two weeks to launch. One automated door access system to get ready. We delivered ahead of the deadline. 🔐

A new gym came to FirstRep needing its access system installed before opening day. We deployed our team and got it done in less than two weeks.

That’s what we’re building at FirstRep: technology that solves real problems for fitness businesses, backed by a team that gets it done.

We currently handle door access installations across West Africa so we can closely manage the process. We’re working towards bringing that same service to gyms across Africa.

Own a gym in West Africa? Send us a DM with “DOOR ACCESS” and let’s talk about your setup.

Your gym has grown. The way you run it should grow too.

Stop chasing payments, manually tracking attendance, and trying to figure out how your gym is performing from scattered records.

With FirstRep, you can automate payment reminders, track member check-ins, get clear monthly performance reports, and even give your members an app with your gym’s name on it.

Less manual work. More control over your gym.

Ready to run your gym smarter?

Last month, we had the pleasure of being one of the proud supporters of Dance Fit Fun 3.0. 🧡

As we stated in our H1 fitness report, we believe fitness should be more than just showing up. It should be something people genuinely enjoy.

That’s exactly what Dance Fit Fun brings to the fitness community: energy, movement, community and, most importantly, fun.

We had an amazing time being part of it, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.

You can checkout the fitness industry market pulse report via the link in our bio.

Your gym shouldn’t need someone at the front desk checking who has paid.

With FirstRep Door Access, your members’ access can be connected directly to their membership status.

Membership active? They’re in.
Membership expired? Access stops automatically.
They renew? They’re back in.

Already have a door access system? Good. We can integrate with it.

Want to automate access at your gym? Send us a DM.

When we first started FirstRep, we were obsessed with building the perfect product.

More features. Better design. Better flows.

Then we got our first annual customer from Ghana, and more fitness businesses started trusting us with their operations.

That changed how we thought about everything.

It stopped being just about building features and became more about helping businesses run better, giving better support, staying reliable, and actually solving real problems.

We’re still building FirstRep.

We just build differently now.

Last month, we released our H1 Fitness Industry Report, and one of the things we said was simple: fitness in Nigeria needs to become fun again, especially as we move into the rest of the year.

It cannot always be about walking into a gym, forcing yourself through a boring workout and counting down until you can leave.

Fitness can be dancing. It can be games. It can be meeting new people, laughing, sweating and enjoying yourself so much that you forget you are even exercising.

In that report, we highlighted Dance Fit Fun as one of the events already pushing that movement forward.

And that is exactly why FirstRep is supporting Dance Fit Fun 3.0.

They are building the kind of fitness experience we want to see more of in Nigeria. One that brings movement, fun and community together in the same place.

Dance Fit Fun 3.0 is happening on 29 August 2026 at 12, PSSDC, Magodo Phase 2, Lagos.

Come dance, play, connect and move with us.

Make sure every staff member understands this. Print it if you have to.

A client walks in. Someone reaches them within thirty seconds. Not a shout from behind a desk. Someone gets up and walks over.

A trainer takes them round. Not a price list, a tour. The floor, the changing room, where the classes hold, where people like them train.

Then ask what their body goals are. Weight, arms, back pain, stamina, a wedding in October. Whatever they say, that is the entire conversation from here.

Now show them it’s possible. Point at the machine, name the coach, tell them how long it usually takes people. “Six weeks, three days a week, Coach Ade handles this with people every month.” They came in unsure it could work for them. Your job is to remove that doubt while they’re standing there.

Then be honest about timing. Everyone who says they’ll start Monday is telling you they won’t start. Tell them that gently: the first day is the hard one, and it never gets easier by waiting. Get them to train once before they leave. A person who has trained in your gym is a different person from one who left with a brochure.

If they still walk out, take the number. Message within 24 hours, and lead with their goal:

“Hi Tunde, good meeting you today. I was thinking about the back pain thing. Coach Ade works with people on that every week. What day works for you?”

Not “we have a promo.” Not “just checking in.” Their goal, a named person, a specific question.

Most gyms here are not losing members. They are losing people who never became members in the first place. Fix the first ten minutes.

Run these on your own gym before you finish reading.

REVENUE. Money that entered your account. But entering your account and belonging to you are two different things. Say a member pays ₦240,000 for a full year in January. That is not ₦240,000 of January revenue. You have not done the work yet. You owe that person twelve months of gym. Spread it: ₦20,000 is January’s revenue, and the other ₦220,000 is money you are holding until you earn it. Do this with every annual and quarterly plan you sell, or your good months will look far better than they are and your quiet months will look like a disaster.

COST. Split it in two.

Fixed costs stay the same whether you have 40 members or 400. Rent. Salaries. Security. Internet. Your software. These are the ones that hurt in a slow month because they do not shrink when your revenue does.

Variable costs move with how busy you are. Diesel, water, cleaning supplies, equipment wear, card fees, towels. More members means more of these, but they also fall when the gym is quiet.

Knowing the split tells you the real number you must hit every month just to break even. That number is your fixed costs. Everything below it is trouble no matter how busy the floor looks.

PROFIT. Revenue minus cost. Revenue ₦2,400,000, cost ₦2,100,000, profit is ₦300,000. Not ₦2.4 million. This is the only number that tells you whether the gym works.

SAVINGS. Money deliberately kept for the month three machines break at once. It will happen. Without savings, one bad month becomes borrowed money, and borrowed money becomes a gym you no longer fully own.

INVESTMENT. Money you put back to make more money. Equipment, a second trainer, better signage, marketing. Savings protects you. Investment grows you. Not the same thing.

The trap. Two versions of it, and most owners fall into one of them.

The first: revenue looks healthy, so money gets taken out as it comes in, and the owner never finds out the gym was only breaking even.

The second is worse. The owner checks the bank balance, sees ₦3 million sitting there, and treats it as profit. But a big chunk of that is annual and quarterly subscriptions for months you have not worked yet. You are holding it by @getfirstrep
