GIT Acting for Improvisers

Part of our GIT Advanced course series, open to graduates of GIT 301+ (or equivalent).

A 6-week organic scenework course for improvisers.

This 6-week class is a performance course providing students with some of the core acting techniques used in longform improv. Students will explore how emotional truth, subtext, status, and character connection skills can bring depth and authenticity to improvised scenes.

Working with techniques drawn from Meisner, physical theatre, and character-driven storytelling, this course is for performers who want to make their scenes more emotionally grounded, connected, and emotionally-resonant.

This course has a focus on organic improv (no opening) as opposed to premise improv (has an opening).

6 Week Course (+ Graduation Show)
Thursdays 6:30pm-9:30pm
Start date: Thursday 30th July 2026
(Every Thursday Until)
End date: Thursday 3rd Sept 2026

Acting Coach Scotland, Govan Workspace, 6 Harmony Row, Glasgow G51 3BA

Graduation show: Monday 7th Sept (Venue: Old Hairdressers, Glasgow)

Pricing:
£150 Full Price (+ Eventbrite fees)
£130 Concession (+ Eventbrite fees)
2 Scholarship spaces available

The scholarships are two spots offered free of charge for people who would otherwise not be able to afford classes. Scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no application process and you won’t be asked questions about your circumstances or background when requesting one of the scholarship places. Our hope with the scholarship is that we can encourage diversity and remove barriers of entry to learning improv.

Prerequisites: GIT 301 (or equivalent)

Taught by: Jeff Khan

Jeff Khan has a decade of improv experience. He trained at the Free Association in London, as well as with improvisers from the Upright Citizens Brigade. Jeff is a founding member of the Glasgow Improv Theatre's long-running house team, Couch. He was also a member of the Free Association's house team Minority Report. He regularly performs at the Edinburgh Fringe and comedy festivals.. by @getjeffreykhan
