When people ask what Sabi is building, the easiest answer is:

“A platform that connects artisans to customers.”

But that’s not the answer I usually give.
Because if that’s all we were building, I don’t think I’d be this obsessed with it.

We’re building Sabi because skilled artisans deserve more than word-of-mouth referrals and luck.
They deserve to be seen.
They deserve opportunities based on the quality of their work.
They deserve trust.

And customers deserve peace of mind knowing they’re hiring someone who’s been verified.

If we can help make that happen, then we’re not just building an app.

We’re helping change how skilled work is valued in Nigeria.
That’s the future we’re building toward.

Artisan First. Always.

Somewhere along the way, we started looking down on skilled trades.

We celebrate the finished house.
But forget the carpenter.

We admire beautiful interiors.
But rarely think about the electrician, the painter or the POP installer who made it possible.

At Sabi, we believe that has to change.
Artisans aren’t “just” workers.

They’re builders.
Problem solvers.
Professionals.
And they deserve to be treated that way.

That’s one of the reasons we’re building Sabi.

Because changing an industry starts with changing how we see the people in it.

There are thousands of incredibly skilled artisans across Nigeria and some of them don’t own smartphones.

And if we’re being honest, that’s exactly why many platforms will never reach them.

But that’s not the future we’re trying to build.

If Sabi says Artisan First, then that has to include the carpenter using a button phone.

The plumber who only receives SMS.

The electrician who has never downloaded an app before.

Technology should remove barriers, not create new ones and that’s why we’re exploring features like USSD registration and SMS job notifications, so more artisans can access opportunities, regardless of the phone they use.

Because a person’s talent should never be limited by the device in their pocket.

No artisan should be left behind.

SABI.
Artisan First. Always.

There’s a reason “What I ordered vs What I got” became a joke on the internet.
Because it happens.

You save inspiration from Pinterest.
You explain exactly what you want.
You even send reference photos.

Then the final result arrives…
…and it looks nothing like what you paid for.

Whether it’s furniture, kitchen cabinets, fashion, POP ceilings or interior finishing, too many people have stories like this.

The problem isn’t that artisans aren’t talented. The problem is that finding the right artisan still depends on luck.

We’re building Sabi because getting quality work shouldn’t feel like taking a gamble.
It should be easier to find skilled artisans you can trust.

Sabi isn’t just about helping people find artisans. It’s about how we see them.

For so long, we’ve reduced skilled people to the moment we need them.

Because behind every home that’s standing, every car that’s running, every office that’s functional, and every beautiful space we’ve admired… there’s someone whose hands made it possible.

They deserve more than being called only when something breaks.

They deserve respect.
They deserve trust.
They deserve to be celebrated.
That’s the future we’re building with Sabi.

Not just a marketplace.

A place where skilled artisans feel seen again.

Artisan first. Always.

Every time we talk about Sabi, someone asks a question that makes us think a little deeper.

This week’s question was:

“What happens if an artisan needs money to buy materials before the work starts?”

It’s a fair question, because trust isn’t just about finding a skilled artisan. It’s about feeling confident every step of the way.

As we’re building Sabi, we’re thinking through these real-life situations before they happen. Some ideas are already on the table, but we know we don’t have all the answers yet.

That’s why we’re building in public.

Because the best products aren’t built in isolation but they’re shaped by the people who’ll use them.

So we’re asking you:

What would make you trust an artisan from day one?

Your answer could inspire a feature we build.

Before we see the finished house…
Before we admire the beautiful kitchen…
Before we compliment the furniture…

Someone built it.

We celebrate beautiful spaces all the time, but we rarely celebrate the people behind them.

That’s one of the reasons Sabi exists.
Not just to help people find artisans.
But to shine a light on the people whose work keeps our homes, businesses and communities running.

Because every skilled artisan has a story worth telling.

And we’re excited to tell them.

Trust isn’t just something we expect.
It’s something we have to earn.

As we continue building Sabi, we’ve been working on the things most people will never see, including making sure we’re handling people’s information responsibly before asking them to trust us with it.

Because if we’re asking artisans to share their details with us, they deserve to know that their information is protected.

For us, trust isn’t just about helping customers find the right artisan. It’s also about creating a platform where artisans feel safe, respected, and valued.

We’re still building.
And we’re building it the right way.

A few years ago, Sabi only existed as an idea.

Today, it’s slowly becoming something you can see.

We’re still building.
Still refining.
Still asking questions.
Still learning.

Every screen you see represents countless conversations about one simple question:

“How do we make it easier to find artisans you can trust?”

We’re not rushing but we are building with intention.

Because we believe skilled artisans deserve more visibility, more opportunities, and more trust.

This is only the beginning.

See you on the other side.

You tell yourself, “Maybe tomorrow.”
Then tomorrow comes.
Nothing.
You call.
“I’m on my way.”
You send a message.
“I’ll deliver this week.”
Days turn into weeks.
Weeks turn into months.

At some point, you stop asking when the job will be done and start wondering if you’ll ever see your money again.

If you’ve experienced this before, you’re not alone.

It’s one of those stories almost every Nigerian seems to have. And while it’s frustrating for customers, it also makes life harder for the thousands of honest artisans who show up, do great work, and keep their word.

Trust shouldn’t depend on luck.

That’s one of the reasons we’re building Sabi.

Not because every artisan is the same. But because everyone deserves a better experience.

Have you ever had an experience like this? We’d love to hear your story.

Behind every finished project is someone whose skill made it possible.

Their work surrounds us every day, yet they rarely get the recognition they deserve.

That’s one of the reasons we’re building Sabi.

Not just to make it easier to find trusted artisans, but to celebrate craftsmanship, restore trust, and shine a light on the people whose hands build the spaces we live, work, and grow in.

This is just the beginning.

Question: What’s one artisan profession you think deserves more recognition?

Some of the most important people in our lives are often the least celebrated.

The plumber who restores running water.
The electrician who brings light back home.
The carpenter who builds the table your family gathers around.

Their work keeps our homes, businesses, and communities running.

Yet finding trusted artisans is still harder than it should be, and skilled artisans don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

That’s why we’re building Sabi.

Not just to make it easier to find trusted artisans, but to help restore trust, celebrate craftsmanship, and shine a light on the people whose hands build our everyday lives.

This is only the beginning.

Something meaningful is coming.
