We are SO excited to announce running mate’s partnership with @261fearless! 🤍🏃‍♀️‍➡️

@kathrineswitzer has always been an amazing advocate and source of encouragement for running mate, so we could not think of a better partner to help amplify the running mate mission.

What better event to kick off this partnership than at the @bostonmarathon THIS WEEKEND?! It is crazy to think back in 1967, the young Kathrine Switzer, wearing bib number 261 in the Boston Marathon, was attacked on the course, simply for being a woman.

In just 50 days, Running Mate founder Dena Lewis will take on 26.2 miles through New York City… but she’s not running them alone!!

Dena is dedicating her NYC Marathon to 26 women whose stories deserve to be carried, celebrated, and remembered. One woman for every mile. 💜

This race is about so much more than a finish line. It’s about the women who inspire us, the women we run for, and our belief that no woman should ever have to run alone.

WHO RUNS THE WORLD? GIRLS! In partnership with Running Mate, Raleigh Girls Run, and cRUNk Run Club, join the Raleigh running community for an evening focused on safety, awareness, and empowering women on the roads and trails.

We’ll be joined by elite athletes and local legends for an important conversation about the realities female runners face, how we can be more aware and prepared, and what all of us can do to create a safer, more supportive running community.

Today we are featuring another woman @denalewisruns will run for @nycmarathon. @sydneyhelenjohnson this surprise post is for you! Sydney has never been afraid to do the hard things.

From graduating from Georgia Tech with highest honors to walking away from the traditional corporate path and building her own business, Sydney has always been willing to take chances, push beyond her comfort zone, and trust what she is capable of.

That same determination is woven into everything she does at Running Mate. As our Director of Marketing, Sydney has poured her heart into this mission. Running Mate would not be where it is today without her commitment, creativity, and belief in what we are building. She shows up, finds a way forward, and simply doesn’t quit.

And when Sydney decided to take on her first marathon at Every Woman’s Marathon alongside her mom, she proved once again that she is willing to try the hard things and succeed.

Sydney embodies the strength and resilience behind Running Mate, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her as one of the 26 women Dena will carry with her through the NYC Marathon. 🤍
