Happy bday to me! 🍰 by @gett_line

To my hotties that are stressed, overwhelmed, spread thin, on the verge of a mental break, over the grind, a slave to the grind, labeled as ”strong“, but easily dehumanized by that label.
I hear you, I see you.
I wish you rest, I wish u a safe space with community but most importantly within yourself.
I wish you the ability to say “no“ even when you feel pressure and obligation.
I pray you get naps when your soul is weary, that your Out of Office automatic reply is on, that your digital and IRL boundaries are respected and your mental health is prioritize.
People have a lot of pre conceived notions of who you are, what you go through, and what you’re capable of handling.
Know that you don’t have to show up for those people, that you’re the only one that knows your truth, and surround yourself with folks that allow space for that vulnerability.

This is my moment, to let you know, that mental health has been a lifelong struggle for me. And though I’m always weird about sharing that struggle online, I felt that these past few weeks have pushed me to reach out to the folks that are also high functioning and secretly struggling, that have issues letting people know they may need help or they are having a hard time. The ones that people think have it together but really dont. They’re just trying to survive!

ESPECIALLY BLACK WOMEN!

These images are moments I felt cute even when I was taking on too much. When I was a rock for some but also crumbling inside. Depression and dysmorphia take many forms, sometimes even laughter. Im sending hugs to you all. You’re loved.

I rarely share my work on IG, but this was a milestone I had to post. My first printed styled work in a major publication @elledecor . 🥹

I got to work with a dream team of Black Creatives in my field for this shoot. People I admire, people who are like family, people who’ve believed in me and I them.

Im so proud to have a shared project with one of my closest friends and most brilliant writer I know: @cokhio

To team up with @frankfrancesstudio incredible eye behind the lens & @liv_demetros impeccable attention to detail on the screen just like old times made my heart so full.

And most Importantly to Niya & Anishka of @ishkadesigns, for believing in my talents enough to accent their own brilliant vision.

It was also an honor to work in a Haitian / Pakistani home. To see BIPOC excellence with a shared heritage does wonders for the soul. It reminded me that my dreams aren’t too big, that my talent is enough, that I too can strive for beauty in a world that constantly tells me I don’t deserve. So grateful for this experience.

And maybe in the future I’ll try to share more 😅.
The Internet high key stresses me out so I be hiding lol. But I have so much work the world hasn’t seen and some things you probably have but didn’t know was me. I’ll work on that. ✨ by @gett_line

13 Years and 35 roommates later (no exaggeration) I finally have my own apartment! Got the keys today and brought my beloved fridge magnets to christen the kitchen. 😭

Hard work, goal setting, and divine Timing made this all possible. Having your own place in NYC is literally the ultimate flex.

My life has changed so much in the last two years and I honestly think it’s because I decided to believe in myself, my talents, my heart. So proud of the strides I’ve made.
