Summer camp… but make it financial literacy. 💰☀️

Last week, I had the privilege of teaching a week long Money Matters camp at @utarlington Kids and Teens University for students in grades 3–5 and 6–8.

Over the course of 15 hours, we explored topics including:
• Budgeting
• Saving
• Personal finance vocabulary
• Entrepreneurship
• Smart shopping
• Needs vs. wants
• Goal setting
• Earning and managing money responsibly

Each day had a different theme, and it was incredible to watch the students grow in both their confidence and financial knowledge throughout the week.

One of my favorite parts was seeing the curiosity, excitement, and thoughtful questions from these future entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders. Financial education is one of the greatest gifts we can give the next generation, and I’m grateful for every opportunity to help plant those seeds early.

Thank you to The University of Texas at Arlington’s Kids and Teens University for trusting me to develop the curriculum and lead this experience. It was an honor to be part of these students’ summer.

Plot Twist: You’re looking at the Financial Wellness Curriculum Developer for Texas Department of Transportation ( @txdot ) employees. 👏🏽

I’m not always online, but I’m always working behind the scenes.

One thing about me? I’ve been incredibly intentional about scaling Girlfriend’s, Budget! L.L.C. through corporate and organizational partnerships this year and this opportunity is one I’m truly proud of.

After being contracted as a Financial Wellness Instructor with The University of Texas at Arlington ( @utarlington ) I was approached to support a larger employee wellness initiative through TxDOT.

Now, I’m developing practical financial wellness curriculum designed to help employees better understand and improve their relationship with money because financial stress absolutely shows up at work.

When employees are financially overwhelmed, it impacts focus, productivity, morale, mental wellness, and overall quality of life.

This curriculum includes practical, real-life education around:
✔️ Budgeting
✔️ Credit education
✔️ Debt reduction strategies
✔️ Savings planning
✔️ Financial confidence building
✔️ Workplace financial wellness resources

With approximately 12,000+ TxDOT employees across Texas, this opportunity feels even more meaningful.

I’m incredibly grateful for opportunities that align with both my expertise and my mission: helping people feel more confident, informed, and in control of their money.

Here are 7 things I do with my business income as a financially stable businesswoman in her 30s 💼💸

Because making money is one thing… knowing what to do with it is what actually builds wealth.

1. I pay myself consistently.
My business doesn’t just make money — it pays me. Every time.

2. I separate my business and personal finances.
No mixing, no confusion. My business has its own system.

3. I set money aside for taxes.
We’re not playing with the IRS 😭 that money gets moved immediately.

4. I reinvest back into my business.
Marketing, tools, support — if it helps me grow, it’s planned for.

5. I track my numbers regularly.
Revenue, expenses, profit… I know what’s going on at all times.

6. I keep a cushion in my business savings account.
Slow months happen. I stay ready so I don’t have to panic.

7. I move money with intention.
Every dollar has a purpose — I’m not just spending because it’s there.
