Have you used your gaming laptop on a bed or pillow? 🤔

Playing your gaming laptop on a soft non flat surface like a pillow or your bed is probably one of the worst things you can do. This will block the fans or vents and prevent your laptop from getting enough airflow so that it can perform without overheating. Not to mention it may also be collecting dust.

Whenever you are playing your gaming laptop you should always prop it up on a flat surface, or even better you can elevate it using a laptop stand or cooling pad. Cooling pads aren’t necessary most of the time, but they can be quieter and increase the lifespan of your laptop.

Do you use a WiFi Extender or Repeater? 🤔

WiFi repeaters do boost your signal but often have slower speeds since it uses the same channels as your main router. WiFi Extenders fix this issue with slowness, but create their own separate network which can be annoying to deal with if you have devices moving around.

The best way to extend your wireless network would be to use Access Points or a mesh WiFi network. Mesh networks are a collection of nodes placed around your house that all talk to each other and boost the signal for the network across your entire home. Also you don’t have to manage which one you’re connected to.

Can you tell the difference between 4k Native vs Upscaled? 🤔

Just because a console and a PC can “run” games at 4k resolution does NOT mean that both graphics have the same quality.

Most consoles games are forced use aggressive upscaling techniques in order to run games at “4k” resolution at a good frame rate (like 60/120fps). On PC you have more options to configure your graphics settings. And if you have a strong enough system, you can run games without any upscaling or in “native”. A game running in 4k native resolution versus one that uses upscaling will not have the same level of quality when it comes to graphics.

Native takes more resources and more expensive hardware to run usually and that’s why PS5s don’t cost $2000 😅

It’s crazy how fast OLED technology is improving!

Alienware’s new AW3226Q Monitor provides the latest OLED tech features in an affordable package. With its new RGB Stripe Tandem OLED technology, this monitor offers significantly better brightness and color, and it renders text better than previous-generation OLEDs.

RGB Stripe - the pixels in this monitor are oriented in a way that better reflects how operating systems render text. So text is much sharper and clearer.

Tandem OLED - by stacking more light emitting layers inside the panel, this monitor can be brighter and more power efficient.

It’s available today for $699 and if you want to learn more check out the link in my bio!

The Terminal isnt too scary I promise 😅

One of the first things you'll want to learn when building a homelab is SSH (Secure Shell). It lets you securely connect to and control your server remotely using the terminal, without needing a monitor or keyboard plugged into it!

In this video, I'm showing y'all how to set up SSH on Ubuntu Server, find your server's IP address, and connect to it from your main computer. And don't worry if you've never used the Linux terminal before. It might look intimidating, but it's not nearly as complicated as you think.

I'm gonna keep breaking down homelabbing step by step, so if you're building your first home server, follow along! We've still got a lot to cover.

What other homelab topics do y'all want me to explain next?

Drop a follow if you want a full tutorial! Working on it ASAP 🙏🏾

Steam Cloud for retro games?! 🎮 This is my favorite homelab project yet!

I recently discovered RomM, a free self-hosted app that lets you organize your entire retro game collection, download games directly to your devices, and even sync your game saves between supported emulators and handhelds!

I've got it running on my NAS, and being able to start a game on my Retroid Pocket 5 and continue playing on my AYN Thor without manually moving save files is honestly so cool.

This is exactly the kind of stuff that gets me excited about homelabbing! There's so much you can do with a home server, and I'm just getting started exploring it all.

Let me know if you want a full tutorial on this! Be sure to follow/subscribe 👍🏾

Want to build your first homelab but have no clue where to start?

You don't need an expensive server or a crazy setup to get started! An old laptop, desktop, or mini PC can be more than enough.

I'd recommend starting with Linux, learning the basics of Docker, and experimenting with self-hosted apps like Jellyfin, Pi-hole, and Home Assistant. There's a lot you can do with just one computer!

This is just scratching the surface of homelabbing, but hopefully it gives y'all a better idea of where to start. I'll be putting together a full beginner's guide on YouTube soon!

Should you build a homelab? 🤔

One of the coolest things about building your own homelab is being able to cancel your subscriptions! With a NAS, mini PC, or even an old laptop, you can self-host apps like Jellyfin, Plex, and Nextcloud to create your own media server, personal cloud storage, and more.

You can even use Pi-hole to block ads across your home network and Tailscale to securely access your stuff from anywhere.

There's definitely a learning curve, but having more control over your data and building things exactly how you want is what makes self-hosting so much fun.

Would y'all be interested in a beginner homelab setup guide? 👀

Do you think Apple should be worried? 👀

Between Google's new Googlebooks and Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra (partnered with NVIDIA), we're finally seeing some serious competition in the laptop space. And I'm all for it! More competition means companies have to work harder to innovate, improve their software, and hopefully bring down prices. At the end of the day, that's a win for all of us.

Some of these game merges looking WILD 😭

Recently there's been a big uproar in the gaming industry. People have been posting a lot of videos of Minecraft mixed with Elden Ring, Spider-Man mixed with Dark Knight and all of this is pretty much thanks to AI

These are also called pass-through mods, where people decompile and recompile an existing game to merge two games together. Pass-through mods have actually been around for a while now.

The only thing new here is that AI is making it easier for people to reverse engineer and decompile these games, but in order to create these merges, you still need to own the game yourself.
