@chailaiorchid was one of the most meaningful experiences I had in Thailand

@chailaiorchid is an ethical elephant sanctuary and social enterprise that helps support women and girls who are at risk of human trafficking and exploitation from neighboring regions.

While I was there I visited the school and learned more about the work they’re doing, the community and environment they are cultivating.

Each trip everyone has the ability to sit and listen and give back. You can be a tourist or a traveller as Anthony Bourdain so poetically put.

Do the touristy stuff, but be resourceful about where you put your money. Every experience you invest in has the ability to invest in someone else 💌🐘 taken in The Chai Lai Orchid by @ggennaaa

Growing up I ran. I ran a lot ( a 5:07 mile I’ll never be able to run again lol ) I never liked to hike during the time I ran. Hiking was “boring” or “too slow”. As I’ve grown up I realized it’s because running was a distraction from my inner dialogue. I never had to sit alone with my thoughts. I was always pushing a goal or a PR and it kept me distracted. Hiking is now my favorite activity. It allows me to slow down and be intentional. Problem solve, not just the terrain but what’s going on in my head. I’m so lucky to experience slices of heaven like this 💚 taken in Mount Norikura by @ggennaaa
