There are some traditions that carry a story far beyond their time.

Our Royal Crown Baby Shawl celebrates two enduring British traditions: the craftsmanship of G.H.Hurt & Son and the heritage of the Crown.

Inspired by the St Edward’s Crown, our lace knitted baby shawl echoes the very crown that has played such a significant role in royal history.

The St Edward’s Crown was used for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and, more recently, King Charles III, and is expected to play its part again at the future coronation of Prince William.

For generations, G.H.Hurt & Son has been creating fine, heirloom-quality lace knitwear in Nottingham, with craftsmanship passed down through time. And just as the Crown is carried forward from one generation to the next, our baby shawls are made to become part of a family’s own story.

A G.H.Hurt & Son shawl is often more than something beautiful to wrap a newborn in. It can be the shawl chosen for a first baby, carefully folded away and brought out again for a new arrival years later. Passed from parent to child, treasured by grandparents and lovingly kept for the next generation, each shawl gathers its own memories along the way.
