Grand Rapids, Michigan stoner/doom metal outfit Ghost Pipe has unleashed a new single from its forthcoming full-length album The Awakening , offering listeners a first glimpse into a record built around crushing riffs, swirling psychedelia, introspection, and the darker corners of the human experience.
Blending elements of stoner rock, heavy psych, doom metal, sludge, and doomgaze , Ghost Pipe creates a sound that feels equally at home in a smoke-filled basement, a windswept forest, or somewhere far beyond the known universe. For fans of Acid Bath, Monster Magnet, and Monolord , the band’s music moves between massive fuzz-driven grooves and expansive atmospheric passages, creating a sonic landscape that is heavy without sacrificing depth or imagination.
The new single serves as an introduction to the world of The Awakening , an album that challenges listeners to look beyond the surface and confront the parts of themselves that are often left unexplored.
“The Awakening is a journey beneath the surface, into the dark roots of the self. It asks you to open your mind, confront what lies hidden within, and face the parts of yourself that are easier to leave in the shadows. Like roots growing unseen beneath the earth, the deepest knowledge often comes from places we rarely choose to explore. These songs move through darkness, transformation, and the strange spaces between the known and unknown. What you find down there is yours to carry, and yours to grow from.”
Rather than simply delivering another collection of heavy songs, Ghost Pipe approaches The Awakening as a cerebral experience , encouraging the listener to open their mind, look inward, and grow through the knowledge discovered along the way.
The album was recorded and mixed by Joel Ferguson of The Verve Pipe at Planet Sunday Studio and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering , whose extensive credits include mastering and remastering work for artists including Elder. The record’s visual identity comes through artwork by Nathan Galusa , with photography by Jessica Taboada . by @ghostpipe1

The Awakening is becoming real. 🜃

Our first test pressings have arrived.

Months of riffs, rituals, strange nights, heavy guitars, wandering spirits, and a whole lot of work have finally taken physical form.

Eight songs. One record. Waxing side A. Waning side B.

The Awakening is coming.

A glimpse into the ritual.

SPIRIT SPEAKS

Though your soul is sleeping,
in the forest is dreaming.

The ghosts that lie
in the black myceli

Something beneath the surface remembers
what we have forgotten.

From The Awakening.

Coming soon.
