Book recommendations based on some of my favourite tropes! 💜💜💜💜

They say don't judge a book by its cover, but we all judge them by their tropes 🤣💜

From the sharp edge of a "witch hunter’s" blade to the heart-aching "yearning" in the Isle of Cadence, these stories lived in my head long after the final page 📖🥀

Do we have any matching reads? 📖
Let me know if you’ve read any of these, I need someone to scream with about the endings! ✨ taken in BOOKSTA by @ghreads4

Middle of the night by Riley Sager - Full Review 💜

Psychological thriller • Small-town mystery • Missing child • Dark past • Twisty

I started this book and ended up reading around 44% of it in one night. Then I completely lost interest and abandoned it for a whole week. I only got back to it yesterday and today. While reading, I wasn’t enjoying myself at all, and I kept wondering: is the problem me, or is it the book? 🚶‍♀️🫠

Especially since the previous book I read by this author was a huge disappointment, I think my subconscious had already formed a negative image of him, even though this is the fifth book I’ve read by him, and two of them were solid five-star reads.

Honestly, I was struggling just to get through a single page. But after taking a break and coming back to it, the events started to get better, and the final quarter of the book completely fixed the experience for me.

I was torn between giving it a 3 or a 3.5 rating, and since the middle ground is the best option, I settled on a 3.25 ⭐️🤣

Will I continue reading his other books? Yes.
His books have become either hit or miss for me.
He’s not a bad writer, he’s just stuck in the middle.

Vicious & Vengeful set by V.E. Schwab (Illumicrate Exclusive) 🥹💜

Vicious was the first book I read at the beginning of my reading journey, and it is still my top one book to this day. I instantly fell in love with it and with V.E. Schwab’s writing style 💜💜💜💜💜🫶🏻

Victor Vale is, and will always be, the best morally grey character ever. I’ve been obsessed with him since 2023 and at this point, I don’t think recovery is an option lol 🤣💜

Forever a V.E. Schwab girl 💜💜💜🫶🏻

Not Quite Dead Yet - Full Review 💜🫶🏻

At first, I honestly didn’t expect this book to end up as a 5-star read for me. Like always, the beginning was such a struggle, and it took me some time to really settle into the story. I wasn’t fully convinced by Jet’s character either, but somewhere along the way she grew on me.

I can’t go into detail without spoiling things for anyone who hasn’t picked up the book yet. But as the story went on, I started seeing her from different angles, and I began to understand her more.

And when it comes to Billy, he’s the best male lead Holly Jackson has ever written. He’s literally my favorite character in the book—such a green-flagged, insanely kind, and genuinely sweet guy. The fact that he stood by Jet through everything without any judgment just makes him even more amazing. And the fact that he went along with all her plans—smart or stupid—knowing he might get hurt, and yet he was completely fine with it, just makes him even more incredible.

Their relationship was everything.
And then there’s Holly Jackson and her favorite move…
I won’t say anything to avoid spoilers, but anyone who’s read more than one of her works knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Finally, those damn letters…
They shattered everything in me. Completely.

This is the third book I’ve read by her, and it’s literally my favorite so far.

Highly recommend 🥹💜

My 10 Before the End 💜🫶🏻

I’m not sure I’ll read all of them since I’m such a mood reader, but I’m planning to pick up Not Quite Dead Yet, Wisteria, Immortal Consequences, and A Gathering of Shadows in November. A mix of mystery, fantasy, and quiet chaos feels just right for the end of the year 🖤

I’m also so excited to dive into The Sword of Kaigen — after loving Blood Over Bright Haven, one of the best standalones I’ve ever read ✨

And I wasn’t planning to read Crooked Kingdom, but after watching Shadow and Bone and understanding the world more, I decided to go back to it 🌌

As for Accomplice to the Villain, I’m not 100% sure I’ll pick it up yet since the fourth book won’t be out until next year 📖

And finally, the Dark Rise & Dark Heir duology… just waiting for the right moment to finally dive in 🤣🤣🤣

Wild Reverence - Full Review 💜

I struggled to read this book slowly, to savour every word, instead of inhaling it all in one breath 🌬️💫
I kept yearning for more, just as Rebecca’s MMCs yearn 💜

Matilda might just be my favourite heroine among all of Rebecca’s MFCs.
There’s something in her that immediately reminds me of Adaira, the same quiet strength, the same fierce heart, the way she feels everything so profoundly ✨

Every female lead Rebecca Ross writes is pure power—strong-willed, fierce, unyielding ✨️

Her men are always green flags. A man who truly loves should never hurt the one he cherishes 💜💜💜

Vincent...
He wasn’t just written, he was felt. Every word, every gesture, every moment with him carried so much quiet tenderness. The way he loved, steady, patient, and gentle, ruined me in the best way possible 🥹💜

The emotions in this book were overwhelming.
I cried even during happy or normal moments.
The whole found family feeling that Matilda experienced with one of the characters made me so emotional 🥹💜

I love how she weaves elements of nature into her stories, making every leaf, wind, and shadow carry emotion 🌿💫

Her writing lingers long after the page is turned, I’ll inhale every word she writes ✨

Found family, fierce hearts, and raw emotions, this is Rebecca Ross at her finest 💫

This book deserves 6 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This may be the last of Rebecca Ross’s works I can hold in my hands for now, but it is far from the end of the journeys she will take me on. Every book of hers feels like a poem meant to be lingered over, to be felt deeply, to be truly understood.

I can’t wait until she releases her next book 📖💜

A study in drowning - Full review 💜🫶🏻

📖✨ I knew I’d like A Study in Drowning, but I didn’t expect to love it this much! The chapters were long, which usually worries me, but I didn’t feel the length at all. The pacing was perfect, and every event was captivating. No chapter was boring.

Effy is just so relatable and hilarious! She’d be quiet and then suddenly say something that made everyone go silent 🤣🤣.
At the same time, we got glimpses of her struggles, nightmares, and the fact that she seems to attract men wherever she goes without intending to.

And Preston 💜💜💜💜💜🥹
Warm, gentle, and endlessly kind. He never overstepped, always respected her space, and constantly reminded her to trust herself. His presence felt like a safe harbour, and their interactions were so sweet and authentic. I only wish we could have seen more of his thoughts and experienced the story from his perspective, too.

I loved the folklore and stories passed down from childhood, paired with the eerie vibes 👻. The book leaned beautifully into dark academia rather than traditional fantasy, which I adored. The dark academia atmosphere added such a rich, moody depth to the story, making it feel mysterious, immersive, and a little haunting.

5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Perfect in every way! The romance was gradual, subtle, and never intrusive, which made it feel realistic and heartfelt. Every character, every interaction, every moment felt intentional and perfectly placed.

 Everything felt just right.
