Who am I [with Russia]?

A fashion design project about the sense making and fabrication of a russian alter ego of myself. Growing up in Berlin in a half russian household, I am exploring what it means to long for and at the same time seperate myself from the image of the perfect russian woman. An image I stitched together from childhood memories, russian media and exclamations of my russian relatives.
A repositioning within my cultural identity.
Nostalgic memories of a life, I never lived.
Can she, like a matryoshka, be tucked into place?

How do we connect to our cultural heritage when the country it's tied to is suppressing minorities, freedom of speech and invades countries? Are we a subject or an object of our cultural heritage?
