After a whirlwind summer of dizzying BPMs & breakneck fast tempos on dancefloors, Slowburn is back to get you in the mood for slow and slinky and sexy grooves. With our first international guest DJ, @gi____gi_____ of @indexrecords @mood_hut 🫧🦋🌀 I first met Gi Gi back in 2023 when we both played together at the Watershed in Portland and as part of an INDEX showcase, he played an absolutely stunning downtempo set in the chill out room. I was so captivated, I stayed in Room 2 for the rest of the night after my set. There was a deep and dubwise quality to his selects that spoke to me. His music has been described as "sun beams cutting through crystal water". There is an evocative nostalgia to the music, a patience, and a playful rendering of textures that fit right in at Slowburn. ✨🔮 Now, hot on the heels of his full length for Mood Hut, Gi Gi will make his Slowburn debut and kindly slow it down for us for a special November night at @cafeteria_____ Early bird tickets now on sale via RA. 🌺💟 by @gi____gi_____

Gi Gi @gi____gi_____ returns to Portland, ME with a sharpened club sword and the distinct, refracting approach to the dance floor that also emanates from his productions. both elicit the feeling of a refined and tactful peregrination, pulling from studied sources to introduce something familiar through novel lenses. his latest release “In Lieu” on Mood Hut increases the gravitational pull, bringing us ever closer to the dance floor while delivering the dubwise momentum and lush percussive samples we’ve come to expect. we’re excited to have him back. joining him hot on the heels of a mini North American tour, we welcome Vancouver’s own Berlin-based deep-tech meister and house specialist Flørist @westside_florist, arriving with a record bag of provocative range. as both a DJ and producer his appreciation for the medium translates as a playful knowledgeability that is truly captivating. exactly who we’d want to set the mood for the evening. Tender presents another Friday evening of music listening, this time drifting into the space where the couch meets the dance floor. Tender welcomes Monique Tya for her debut appearance. Drawing on years immersed in music both behind the scenes and behind the decks, her sets move effortlessly through bass-driven sounds with a refined, ever-evolving approach. We’re excited to hear her bring that energy to the Tender floor. One final DJ set from Gi Gi, before he heads home to Texas. A much-loved fixture of the local scene, his adventurous selections and generous musical curiosity have made him a perfect fit for Tender. Join us as we send him off with enough delay tails to last the flight home. This is not a deep listening event and guests are invited to socialise, while keeping voice volumes respectful of the music. Our liqour license will be in effect - Keeper Pilsner and natural wine on offer, as well as a new cocktail / highball menu! 5 𝘚𝘌𝘓𝘌𝘊𝘛𝘚: Emerging from Austin’s underground, @gi____gi_____ first came on our radar back in 2021 with Lumino Pleco on New York’s Quiet Time Tapes. In the thick of the lockdown, his collage-based soundscapes felt almost like sonic therapy — melancholic, introspective, and filled with subtle references to music from the past (Prince, Vangelis, Erykah Badu, and Miles Davis). 2022’s Sunchoke and Lamella Pressed (featured on our favorite releases of 2022) expanded on the artist’s world of dubwise sampledelia pulling downtempo grooves, melodies, and soul out of his deep collection of jazz, ambient, and ’90s electronica. Since those early years, Gi Gi has steadily inched closer from ambient and chill-out room atmospheres to club dancefloors. His latest album released July 17th on cult favorite Vancouver label @mood_hut (Pender Street Steppers, Jack J, Peach, Hashman Deejay), In Lieu is perhaps Gi Gi’s most mature outing thus far, and draws from the delicate movement and emotional intimacy of his lauded DJ sets. Listen to the titular track, which features gorgeous ’80s-tinged ethereal guitars and vocals that lift sentimental pop and shoegaze samples into hazy downtempo bliss. To celebrate the album’s release, Gi Gi shared 5 tracks with us from artists that were sampled on In Lieu. These picks from Mad Professor, Spooky, Cocteau Twins, Junior Boys, Chugga, and Heather Duby trace the expansive sonic landscapes that are weaved together so beautifully in his dubwise sampledelia. special one tonight at @miscellania_ for the release of my new record on @moodhut ❢ in lieu is a gesture towards the dancefloor, introducing more pulse and low end pressure to my world, and this is the angle that guides tomorrow night as well. music that operates with a careful sense of tension– rhythm that never pushes too hard, ambience that never drifts too far. music linked less to genre than a lineage of artists interested in suspension, repetition, and tonal pressure. perfect crew with me for this– @na_____tty & @aidan_dimitrios both embody the more elusive shades of the tek continuum, tracks that flit between poles– glitchy/groovy, tweaked/soulful, stomping/pensive. music with a feeling of constant motion that comes not just from the rhythmic propulsion but a sense of textural and emotional restlessness ✼ @moopiedaily doesn’t need an introduction from me, but obviously he’s laid the groundwork for a lot of the sounds that color melbourne’s scene today. there’s a slippery quality to his approach as well— the same ethos that leads him to curate sun-dappled folk alongside rubbery 303 workouts on his label shapes his djing as well, and there’s nothing i admire more than a genre agnostic ❤︎ @valeriyabial & @k8m055 represent the continuation of these ideas, younger crew creating their own novel combinations of sound and mood, slipping things into a club context that maybe weren’t meant for it but should have been there all along. the d in idm stands for dance after all, remember? if any of this resonates you know where to find us, presales still available and tickets on the door all night 8-3 ⍀ photo by @nonlinear.welfare | flyer by @wnsalu by @gi____gi_____
