“Welcome, dear guest, to the Witch’s Homestead Oracle, a deck that draws you back toward a forgotten time. You are invited to taste the heavy fruit of the orchard, rifle through ancient journals full of faded ink, and cross the creaking floorboards of shadowed hallways to explore the spirit of an enigmatic farm witch’s life. Her homestead is both sanctuary and secret-keeper, and her story is yours for the taking.”

Out October 6th from @rockpoolpublishing where books are sold, and available now for pre-order 🧹

“Some truths only surface over a steeped cup, and the kettle has heard it all: heartbreak, joy, scandal, fear, dreams. Over tea, barriers soften. Stories rise like steam in the quiet space between friends…”

“You dream of your younger self. She asks, ‘Is it safe to become you?’

‘Maybe not,’ you answer. ‘But it is necessary.’

‘Necessary to live in exile?’ she asks.

‘Not exile. Freedom.’”

When I first posted this piece years ago, someone felt the need to tell me it was a fire hazard, so here is your official warning not to try to reenact this one ✔️😘

“You kneel, fingers brushing the plank that sits just a hair too high. Splinters catch on your skirt. The wood lifts with a hint of resistance, asking if you’re ready.

What unmourned truths have you tucked beneath your feet?”

Witch’s Homestead Oracle is officially out in the world 🕯️🥀🧹

Silliness aside, this project was deeply personal—a combination of fiction and nonfiction, a culmination of the inner and outer work I’ve been doing each day for the past several years.

Born and raised in a city, my yearning for something slower and simpler took shape early on. But it wasn’t until 2018 that my dream became reality. My family of 3 (at the time) moved to the country, rented a tiny cottage in the woods, and eventually bought the old farmhouse you see above. It had been previously abandoned—no running water, no heat, no electricity. Just beautiful, ghostly bones that we knew in our hearts were meant for us.

By day I would tend to the needs of the homestead, and by night, the beauty I experienced from life lived close to the land gave way to fevered scribblings—what first turned into a Victorian romance novel and then this deck.

The spirit of the Witch’s Homestead is not always for the faint of heart. There are ghosts in the attic and secrets buried beneath the creaking floorboard. But look closer, and you see that the ghosts just need to be named and freed; the hidden secrets unearthed with care and attention.

The witch’s homestead is a refuge, a quiet place to pause between tasks. The lessons I’ve learned here are in this deck, yours not only for the taking, but for the shaping. Mold them like sourdough. Spin them like wool. Make them uniquely ✨yours✨

The Witch’s Homestead Oracle is officially out today
🖤🧹🕯️🐈‍⬛

I love making oracle decks because they’re such a great way for art & literature combined to have a tangible use in the everyday; I’ve always fancied myself kind of a craftswoman (though that comes out real pretentious now that I write it, oh boy!!), partially because I love the idea of my illustrations being actually handled and worked with, becoming portals from the material into the sacred, allowing people to start or rekindle a dialogue with their innermost longings and intuitive inklings. It’s a marriage of both the practical and the magical (the practical magical, if you will 🥀). Ideally, pictures and words breathe together, speaking through one another and inspiring questions whose answers can only arise from the depths of the querent, whose soul always knows and is just waiting to be asked. And also it’s just really freaking fun making oracle decks with such an epic literary genius as @hadas.knox, who seems always to know exactly how to let words unfurl so perfectly and gorgeously into meaning. 🖤🖤🖤

From the first spark of an idea, we set out to make a story oracle—inspired by Hadas and her own journey with her haunted farmstead—that spoke, through the life of one witch, to the enchantment inherent in all things, to the beauty of a life lived close to the land and the seasons, to the ghosts in our attics that are longing to be named and freed, to the steady heartbeat of real magic within all of us that only needs quiet and careful attention to unearth. The rhythmic, needful work of the homestead gives way to the fevered scribblings of the quill at night; both are equally alive and both ripe with meaning and possibility.

We’re so grateful to @rockpoolpublishing for helping make this dream come to fruition.🖤 Our hope is that you find parts of yourself in our farm witch, and call them toward home. If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, the link is you know where. We really can’t wait to hear what you think. 😘

“The day is dim and dark. Rain drums against the heavy glass panes. You hurry past the crackling hearth fire and bubbling cauldron, past candles in their brass sconces casting an orange glow on wainscoted walls, past the scent of fresh polish on wide plank floors, until you find it—your window seat. Light filters through the rain-soaked glass like sunshine through honeycomb, scattering rainbows on the patterned wallpaper, reflecting your own multifaceted specificity. This is your refuge, your personal fairyland...”

~ @hadas.knox in The Witch’s Homestead Oracle, out from @rockpoolpublishing on October 6th.

Thank you so much for all of your excitement for this deck (and your patience as we await its release, haha). We’re so thrilled it’s resonating with so many of you already and can’t wait to hear your impressions and finally see it in your hands! 3 days!🕯️
