LOST FOR WORDS !!!!!!🙏 10 years ago I was learning to cut hair I nearly quit It's seriously scary how life works out , through years of sacrifice , putting myself out of my comfort zone ! Being available for every opportunity and always being the most passionate person in the room ! If God could show you where you would be 10 years from the start you would never believe ! It's been one crazy journey 7 years of those in particular working alongside mentors and industry leaders who know exactly who they are, Travelling around the world , Educating stylists from all cities and countries . I now enter into a final of best British hairdresser alongside my hero's and stylists I looked up to from day one ! 😱It's a dream come true I can't describe what it means to me after the most challenging 3 years opening my first salon and creating a brand with it I was ready to challenge myself once again do what I'm most passionate about and let the work speak for its self A finalist for the biggest men's hairdressing awards in the world I'm happy at that. Thank you to everyone who has followed the journey.I wanted to be as transparent as possible with this post. Although reaching 100K followers may not mean what it once did, it's still an achievement I'm incredibly proud of. When I first started, 100K felt like a huge milestone. There were no Reels then. Instagram was about imagery, raw talent, and the beginning of something that changed the men's hair industry forever.So much of what you see today comes from @joshlamonaca . I wouldn't be where I am without his mentorship, inspiration and guidance, and neither would so many others around the world. The men's industry is what it is today because of him . Both professionally and personally, he has been one of my greatest inspirations. He changed my life, and I'm forever grateful for that.I admit I struggle with what social media has become. Today, talent and skill aren't always what receive the most recognition. Sometimes the work that performs best is simply the work that suits the algorithm, and because of that, the line between what's genuinely great and what's simply popular has become blurred.The education industry has become incredibly saturated. It can sometimes feel like the person with the biggest following automatically sits highest in the pecking order. Years of practice, mentorship and dedication can be overshadowed by someone who's simply mastered social media. I constantly find myself battling between creating work that reflects my true taste and creating work I know will perform well on social media. I'm sure many creatives can relate. As an artist, that's a difficult place to be.Looking back, I'm incredibly grateful. In just five years I've achieved goals I once only dreamed about: opening a salon in the heart of London, building an amazing team, launching an online education platform, and creating a brand, And a BHA FINALIST I'm truly proud of.Thank you again to everyone who has supported me, trusted me, and followed this journey.Above all, I thank God for every answered prayer.
