Anyone feeling heavy or carrying hope deferred? You’re not alone.

Proverbs says hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

I’ll be transparent and say that recently, I haven’t been okay. Grieving is hard, especially when you’re grieving multiple things at once. I wrote this musical prayer a couple days ago as I was processing and bringing a fresh surrender to God.

Yesterday, I was helping lead worship at a friend’s church, and while we were singing, I had a strange thought:

Maybe this season is a gift.

Hang with me, because it hasn’t felt like one.

If I lose my hope from loss, it shows what my hope was built on. And when our hope is dependent on other people or external circumstances, we’re setting our hope up to fail.
I have been realizing that I’ve done that – putting my hope in people and in things that are transient, at least on some level. But those places can’t bear the weight of our hope.

‭‭So where exactly is the gift in a season where grief weighs the heart?

Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭19 says, “We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…”

The anchor isn’t outcome or timing.
It’s God’s character — steady, faithful, unchanging.

God meets us right in the disappointment, in the aching middle — not just the healing end. In the anger, and in the frustration. And he is the steady anchor who won’t falter, flake, or forget.

If you’re feeling heavy, you’re not alone.
If you’ve been feeling loss or grief, I’m with you.

If you need prayer or someone to stand with you — comment or message me. I’d be honored to pray with you for hope, strength, and rest. Meanwhile, I hope this song brings a sense of peace and nearness to the true anchor – Jesus.

Had the fun opportunity to lead worship for a conference on a cruise to the Bahamas! I had never been on a cruise before, but it was a blast. And the people I met who were there to grow and learn together and call each other higher are extraordinary. I love getting to do little adventures with God and all the side quests along the way ☀️🌴
