We love camping with our festival fam @basscoastfest !! Such a fun and welcoming vibe every year, it's so magical when we all come together again. It can be a challenge trying to get us all in one place for our group photo, but we did our best. This year (like every year) we had a few new folks join including our kid and her boyfriend. And what a treat it was, to watch all the newbies getting to experience Bass Coast for the first time!! Can't believe we have to wait a whole year to do it all again. ✨💙✨

In two weeks #basscoast2026 gathers again, like every year on the shared unceded traditional territories of the Nlaka'pamux and Syilx Nations. 20 years ago I got to see Daft Punk live at my second Coachella (2006). They used protection mapping onto the pyramid atop the stage. It was the first time I've ever seen projection mapping. It was a religious experience that I'll never forget and it's what got me started shooting events again after a break from shooting underground warehouse raves with my film camera. An open-air music festival in the desert, armed now with a digital camera, and my love for festival photography was born. I have my friend Chris Myden to thank. Chris convinced me to go to Coachella the year before (2005) for the first time. When I told him I couldn't go to Coachella that year with him because I was saving up for a washing machine he told me, "Jeff, 20 years from now you won't remember what kind of washer and dryer you bought, but you will remember going to Coachella." He was right then, and he was right 20 years later. I've tried to live my life that way ever since. #coachella2006 by @giftingpics

“My favourite part of shooting at Bass Coast is being part of the community. From my first rave 30 years ago to now, I’ve loved documenting transformative gatherings and festivals, making sure future generations can see that PLUR is still very much alive, no matter what’s going on in the world.

My style has changed over the years, but my approach hasn’t. I always start by trying to catch the moment as it really is, like a photojournalist. Sometimes, though, I lean into a more editorial style when I feel a bit of direction will help tell the story better. And at least one night per festival, you’ll spot me hauling out my hefty tripod to shoot long exposures - my landscape photography roots always come out to play.”
