It might seem like pure chaos, but there are many unwritten rules about driving in the DR. Some of these rules might even go against actual written laws, lol but hey, but it works.

if you see someone waving something red, it’s because there’s something obstructing the road up ahead and you need to slow down, put your hazards on (so the car behind you knows it’s not that you’re going slow. It’s that there’s something up ahead that way they don’t want to overtake you, which would be the norm) then stay that way until you see what was obstructing it because it could be very far up ahead, especially if it’s cattle

I love to say that Dominican problems need Dominican solutions because the culture here permeates every aspect of life and so things that might work in one country would absolutely not work here
