Celebrating our city’s abundance of talent last night at the Austin Music Awards just down the street from the shooting was a reminder that joy and grief coexist.

I had the honor to chat with @jackievenson after the show about the need for more elected officials to actually put up a FIGHT against fascism using all the tools in the box. How we must no longer accept the complicity of establishment Democrats, but boldly lead a progressive movement for the people.

We need common sense gun control. We need affordable rent for musicians, artists, venues, and all workers. We need officials who understand these issues are all intersectional, rather than isolated.

As a representative, I will be relentless in the pursuit of justice and dignity for all. I know the problems facing Austinites are many and know those standing the way of change aren’t just Republicans.

Election day is tomorrow, a vote for me for TX HD 49 is a vote to bring a real force for change into the Texas House of Representatives.

The U.S. and Israel’s coordinated attack on Iran further highlights the corrupt relationship between the two governments. Yet Texas continues to comply by prioritizing their connections with the Israeli government over working families here at home.

Another mass shooting in Texas happened in our backyard, in the heart of House District 49.

My heart is with the victims, their families, and everyone in our community who is grieving. The pain is real, and it is close to home.

Thank you to the first responders who rushed to save lives in the midst of chaos.

I will continue fighting in the Texas House for meaningful gun safety measures and real investments in gun violence prevention.

We owe our community more than condolences.

We owe them change.

I fight for peace and against American imperialism. This kind of senseless escalation in the Middle East puts all of us at risk and does nothing to strengthen our communities or make families safer.

War abroad drains resources, costs lives, and creates instability that echoes for generations. Violence in our own streets tears at the fabric of our neighborhoods and undermines real public safety.

I reject war and I reject the idea that more force is the answer, whether overseas or here at home. Real security comes from investing in people, addressing root causes, and choosing diplomacy and prevention over destruction.

We must stop the reckless violence and commit to building a world of peace and prosperity for all.
