Early this year, I woke up one day and decided to overhaul my life. I braved leaving all I had ever known—and loved—for the unknown. A clean slate. When I decided to take this path of self-discovery, I vowed that I would be whoever I wanted to be and embrace who I truly am, without a single self-doubt.Luckily, I found myself in a community that welcomed and accepted me with open arms. Friendships grew beyond the dance studio—into late-night coffee runs, sleepovers, and out-of-town day trips. Whatever plans came to mind, my friends were just a call away. Over time, I told them stories of past versions of myself, both the good and the bad. And they loved me anyway.I still tear up when I think about the people I left behind, but I’d say it takes guts to leave and try to make it some place else. I used to be scared shitless trying to navigate life on my own, until I met these incredibly beautiful people who climbed aboard my ship and rowed alongside me. I was alone, but never lonely.I am slowly becoming more like my best friends: full of life like Aiman, lowkey funny like Zarah, thoughtful like Bea, affectionate like Ash, and supportive like Wana. I’ve made so many friends that the list could go on forever. But most importantly, I am becoming grittier, more hardworking, and more ambitious, like RD. I can only hope that you all find a mentor who inspires you the same way.We never really know how long a relationship will last, so I guess I’m writing this to remember. So that if I ever drift away from these people, I will remember how much better I became because of them and their love. At the end of the day, I can tell you: this version of myself is my favorite so far. Thank you, my extrardnary fam! Life is so much better with all of you in it. 🤍 by @gilliangeronimo
