POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Playing, experimenting, following the joy of a thread of an idea…
Making plates from a drawing of the trees in Murvagh forest near me. Exploring lino and collograph, layering ink, printing onto Japanese paper and sheer fabrics, and seeing what happens when light begins to pass through.
Trying out the gorgeous sample inks I brought home from @ironbridgeprintmakers over the summer. I’m having the best time, letting one experiment lead to the next.
No predetermined plan, just curiosity, a lot of play, and following the fire in my belly wherever the excitement takes me.

A truly powerful and exquisite exhibition by Veronica Buchanan, which I had the pleasure of experiencing on Friday at Artlink, Fort Dunree.
Beautifully executed, deeply moving Carrying the Silence is the kind of exhibition that speaks to you without needing words. Every detail is considered, every single piece carries its own quiet weight, and the work stays with you long after you leave.
An extraordinary and thought-provoking body of work, presented with such sensitivity, depth and artistic brilliance. A privilege to experience. 🤍

So thrilled my piece, Selkie - sold before the exhibition has even opened 💓so incredibly grateful to Joan Clancy for having my work in her gorgeous gallery.

Selkie is inspired by treasured family memories of summers by the sea: bubbling water alive with mackerel, the shrill excitement of her young sons pulling in full fishing rods, long bright evenings, delicious suppers, and precious times spent together. It also quietly reflects on the changing condition of our coastal environment, including the worrying decline in mackerel populations. While the title references Celtic folklore, the work is rooted in lived experience. For Gillian, Selkie represents the enduring pull of the sea and the memories it holds, a reflection on family, belonging, and the connection between people and place.

A huge thank you to Joan Clancy, who for 25 years has been such an incredible supporter of the arts in Ireland. Joan has always championed emerging artists like myself while also showcasing the work of established artists, creating a space where creativity can thrive.
Her excitement, curiosity, and genuine love for the arts are inspiring, and Joan and her family have given so much to the artistic community over the years.
Thank you, Joan, for your encouragement, generosity, and belief in artists. You are a fantastic force in the arts, and I’m honoured to be part of this celebration.

I am thrilled to be packing up 3 pieces and sending them to @ironbridgefinearts for the 2026 printmaking competition.

This exhibition is going to be unreal! So many brilliant artists and I can’t wait to see all the amazing work in person on July 4th 💓

I have three portraits, packed up tight in lots layers to keep them safe. Thanks to @ramseyspictureframing for the help getting them ready.

The portraits are of people made with a few different traditional printmaking techniques. Drypoint, collagraph and block print. Made @leitrimsculpturecentre print studio 💓

With all the work done I had a lovely stroll on Murvagh beach at the end of the day.

As this exhibition comes to an end and the work comes down from Eden Place Arts Centre, I’ve been reflecting deeply on everything that has happened over these past months.
This body of work came from my own mental health journey, from the ways I process struggle, healing and hope. It was made from a place of honesty and vulnerability, and I could never have anticipated the response it would receive.
Since my artist talk with the Letterkenny Creative Collective in the RCC in October, and throughout this exhibition for the Mental Health Arts Festival NI 2026, so many people have reached out to share their own stories and lived experiences with me. I feel incredibly honoured by that trust.
Again and again, I’ve been reminded that I am not walking this path alone. Through your messages and conversations, I’ve realised how many of us are built from the same blocks, carrying similar struggles, resilience and hope.
The openness, kindness and willingness to support one another has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way. For me, this work is about open conversation, sharing our experiences so we can help carry each other through difficult times.
I’m also deeply grateful for the opportunities already emerging from this exhibition, including future exhibitions and the possibility of this work touring further.
Thank you to Eden Place Arts Centre, Margo Carr, Noel McAlinden, and every single person who visited the exhibition, shared a conversation, or sent a message.
I carry all of it with enormous gratitude. 💚 taken in Eden Place Arts Centre by @gillianwrightartist

Yesterday was the opening of Belonging at Eden Place Arts Centre, and my heart is very full.
Thank you to everyone who came through the doors, took time with the work, shared conversations, stories, kindness and presence. It meant more than I can say.
This exhibition was created slowly, through painting, printmaking and ceramics, and rooted in ideas of family, healing, community and what it means to feel held through difficult times. To see people connecting with the work in such an honest and generous way was incredibly moving.
Thank you to Eden Place Arts Centre and MHANI Festival 2026 for the opportunity and support.
Belonging continues until May 22nd at Eden Place Arts Centre, Derry.
Open Monday to Friday 10 -7pm
