“There are artists… and then there are those who build legacies out of bronze and soul.”

Alvin Pettit isn’t just an artist — he’s a monument in motion. His hands have shaped history, sculpting the faces of freedom, resilience, and power.

From Jersey City to Philadelphia, from Mary McLeod Bethune to Harriet Tubman, Alvin’s work doesn’t just sit in parks or museums — it breathes. It tells the story of every dream that refused to die.

🎥 This reel captures the journey of a man who uses art to heal, to teach, to resurrect.

The world needs to know his name. The world needs to feel his purpose.

This is more than a documentary — it’s a reminder that art can save us.

🚨 HIP-HOP IS IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY! 🎤🔥

What happened to the storytelling? The lyricism? The originality? The music that made us THINK, FEEL, and understand the world around us?

In Episode 9, I’m talking about the culture that helped shape who I am, what I believe is missing from today’s hip-hop, and why I still have hope for its future.

From legends like Rakim, KRS-One, Nas, EPMD and Slick Rick to a new generation of artists keeping the fundamentals alive, we’re getting into what makes REAL hip-hop powerful.

I’m also spotlighting artists who deserve your attention, including music by @theneighborhoodkidsmusic , Jay Dollaz, RJ the Realest and PMD.**

This isn’t about old school versus new school. It’s about respecting the craft, preserving the culture, and making music that actually says something.

Hip-hop gave us a voice. Are we still using it?

🎙️ EPISODE 9 — LET’S TALK HIP-HOP.

👇🏽 I want to hear from you: **Has hip-hop lost its way, or is it evolving?

#HipHopCulture #RealHipHop #HipHopHistory #Lyricism

I’d lead with “HIP-HOP IS IN A STATE OF EMERGENCY!” on the Instagram reel itself, too. It’s your strongest hook from the episode and should get people debating in the comments. by @gilrios1

While several schools and educators are claiming hip-hop in education, let’s not forget the pioneer who laid the foundation for what we see happening today. The vision. The blueprint. The legacy. This movement didn’t start yesterday.

I’m the nation’s Hip-Hop Principal. I’m HIM! 🎤🔥

🗽👑 SALUTE KING — THIS IS HIP-HOP HISTORY.

Before Hip-Hop became a global culture, there were pioneers laying the foundation block by block in the Bronx.

Disco King Mario was one of them.

From the East Bronx, Mario helped create spaces where the music, the DJs, the sound systems and the people could come together. His contribution is part of a history that deserves to be remembered, documented and passed down to the next generation.

“SALUTE KING” is more than a music video. It’s a tribute. A piece of Bronx history. A salute to a man whose name and legacy remain connected to the foundation of this culture. 👑🎤🎚️

We honor the pioneers while we can still tell their stories.

Jersey City turned into the Marvel Universe! 🔥

Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four, Storm, Spider-Man yoda and more pulled up to Comic Con—and I was there with @plussizesuperhero to capture all the action! 🎥⚡️

The costumes, creativity and energy were on another level. If you could play ONE superhero or villain in a movie, who would it be? Drop your answer in the comments! 👇🏽

30 years ago today, the world lost Tupac Shakur but his voice, his courage and his impact are still felt everywhere.

Almost 10 years ago, @sandikane25 and I filmed this conversation about the story behind Pac’s iconic “Thug Life” tattoo. At the time, people around him worried it could hurt his movie career, endorsements and the opportunities opening up for him.

But Pac wasn’t interested in living by anyone else’s expectations. He stood firmly in who he was and that decision became part of his legacy.

Nearly a decade after we captured this story, it’s still just as powerful and relevant.

Rest in power, Tupac. 🙏🏽🕊️

Special shoutout to @mopremeshakur for sitting down with us and sharing this history.
