This is just a couple days late because we were too busy celebrating your birthday in person. Oops 😅 You asked me which video I plan on using this year for your birthday post and I couldn’t decide on just one because @myaandthephantoms, you have spent the last year creating some of the biggest memories that will ever exist and help turn you into a better human and I cannot express to you how proud I am to call you my sister. If you need me, I’ll be trying to comprehend that @myaandthephantoms is officially 18 today. I can be sappy and throw an obscure memory about when you were little and climbed into the sink to open the medicine cabinet and used dad’s scissors to give yourself bangs when you were three (or grabbed his razor and shaved off your eyebrow) but I’ll save those stories for another day. Supportive. That was the best word to describe you, well one of the best. Dad, you did everything in life with the most unconditional support and love. You were a man with many passions and made sure you not only shared them with the world but passed a little bit on to everyone you met. If it meant watching your boys go on to teach and pass their gift on to others, you supported it. If it meant listening to your youngest hour after hour belting out songs but knowing it got her into choir at school, you supported it. If it meant laughing at your oldest because she wanted to fly to a different city to meet a celebrity or wait over 12 hours to get front row at a concert of her favorite musicians, you supported it. If it meant pushing your wife to go follow the call of music because damn she can sing, you supported it. There will never be another Pete Denis but we can all learn from you. Whether it’s how many beats per minute a song has, who the greatest wrestler is, where to find the best pizza in Miami (and you were right, there is nothing in this world like New York pizza). There was one thing you always wanted us to know, and that was to do the right thing. You made an impact on many many lives but please know that you’ll always have a little piece of you with everyone. Just like you always dedicated it to me every year on my birthday, it’s time that I dedicate it right back to you; Dad, I will always love you. by @ginadarling__
