In Chefchaouen, I explore the workshops of metal artisans who urge me to fill my suitcase with tiny, dense teapots. I visit cave-style family homes to idly drink tea in the dark, and, just as the sun is setting, I hike to the city’s fortress watch tower, where young men are doing what young men do b̶e̶s̶t̶ most. The scent of amber permeates through dusty carpets and cushion covers in Tanja. Orange juice, root vegetables, and caramelized dates are consumed in excess. As are love-heart-shaped Syrian falafels, one-thousand-hole pancakes (the ancestor to the modern-day crumpet), and explicitly on Fridays, Couscous. Following Anthony Bourdain’s advice, I search for Café Baba. Here, I discover mint tea with a 1:1 ratio of sugar and older gentlemen sniffing snuff (tobacco). taken in Tanger, Morocco by @ginanero
