Her driver fetched me at 10:30PM, and I saw her get up from bed, get styled and made up. Then we—Bimb, her nurses, staff, other MDs, & I, in three separate vehicles—made our way to IKEA.

I sat between her and Michael in the car. She read messages and checked Shopee on her phone.😂 Conversation ranged from me asking if she was nervous (no, she wasn’t), to her wish to travel soon, to how proud she was of Bimb & his first solo endorsement as an adult. She asked me what PGH patients needed. “Kailangan ba nila ng Safeguard soap? Patient gowns?”(Papunta kami sa work niya, pero iniisip pa rin niya kung paano makatulong.)

When we arrived, we took a selfie in the car. Then I watched her put her game face on.

She stepped out, cameras already rolling.

The shoot ended around 4AM. She only paused once to sit down briefly. Meanwhile, kaming mga kasama niya were already sitting on the sides kasi pagod at antok na.😂

Pero si Ate Kris, tuloy-tuloy. Game na game siya, despite the pain in her knees. She really is a different person in front of the camera. It’s almost as if she forgets her illness and pain. Like, for those few hours, none of it exists. It’s kind of magic, tbh.

After the shoot, we went back to her place. As we were about to part ways, we hugged, & I said, “I’m so proud of you, Ate Kris.”She answered, “Look how far we’ve come.”

And this is why I’ll never hear this song as a romantic love song again. It’s now my song for Ate K. For watching her try so hard to make it, over and over again, despite the odds. For her boys.💗

Found this video on my phone.😂 May commentary pala yung tour guide. (Alam mo yung during a trip you just take photos/vids & you just check them out much later cos during the trip you just want to enjoy & relax, pero pag uwi biglang sobrang busy nanaman.😁)

I wanted to go down using the stairs from the top, but it was raining then & I didn’t want to risk getting injured.😁

Thoroughly enjoyed my *first* (may second??😂) pickleball game with these lovely ladies, using my new @artepickleball (the prettiest paddle!!), many thanks to our host, @nutrifizzph, my favorite zero-calorie prebiotic drink (my faves are yogurt flavor & lemon lime)! ❤️

Great coaching by @ongcourtadvantage! And thanks @dearmarjsia for the game! Galing mo!😍🙌🏻 Loved the venue @greenjacketathletic, malamig! (There’s also golf sim, plus lotsa restos around!)

Thanks to my patient hubby @sonny.abrahan.md for the videos! (I told him not to go anymore cos I know he’s tired but he wanted to see me learn pickleball daw, i.e., he wants to laugh at me— he knows I’m no athlete.😂❤️)

One of the absolute best parts of traveling! ❤️

We decided to head straight to @harderkulm after checking in & our first Swiss dinner at @harderkulm_panoramarestaurant was perfect. Best hot choco of this trip.🍫☕️

Our server was very friendly & said she misses the Philippines (turns out a lot of them go to our beaches during their winter break) & she’s been to Coron, Siargao, Bohol, Cebu, & Boracay! Wow!❤️

One of most favorite days together was at the “Top of Europe” #Jungfraujoch.❤️ Sonny booked us this tour from @klook_ph (yes, siya na ang taga-book.😂) We got fetched from Interlaken so we didn’t have to get up very early, compared with tourists fetched from Lucerne & Zurich. We also got back 6pm, just in time for dinner at La Terrasse Brasserie which is in the Michelin Guide for Interlaken (@ging.eats)—many thanks to our generous friends!❤️

Then we spent the last part of the day watching the sunset (past 8pm!) from the very cozy @alpinaboutiquehotel in Riggenberg where we stayed. It’s just a short train or bus ride from Interlaken, with free voucher for rides within Interlaken, kaya sulit talaga instead of staying in Interlaken where the hotels & chalets are very expensive.😁 I’ll make a reel about this hotel when I have time again.😂

I was a very proud “ate” earlier when I shared the panel discussion with my residents/intern/student from when I was chief resident! They’re now experts in their own fields.❤️

Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (#AIHA) can be idiopathic or secondary to, or may be the first sign of, other conditions such as hematologic & solid malignancies, systemic/organ-specific autoimmune diseases, or even infections. Get a thorough history, use judicious lab testing, then treat the disease, not just the hemoglobin level. Pursue durable, steroid-sparing disease control. Communication between doctors is key.

CLOY got me through 2020 when I was extremely anxious about colleagues getting infected, going to the hospital for our patients, navigating my safety as well as my family’s, & not knowing when things will get better. So I’m feeling incredibly nostalgic to be standing on this actual dock at Iseltwald (&, not really a plot twist, with my very own Captain Ri).❤️🇨🇭
