HER SOUND: Celebrating Women Who Move the Grid

Today, We giving flowers to someone who is not just an incredible DJ but also a true friend and an unstoppable force behind the decks DJ GingerSnapz. From the moment we connected, her passion, energy, and pure love for music were undeniable. She doesn’t just play music she creates a whole vibe.

In her own words:

“I discovered my true art for DJing through my big sister and mentor, Sahar Sangre aka DJ Sunny D Sunny Dulce. I loved going to her sets and hearing her mix. One day, we bonded by her teaching me how to transition music and read BPMs. I started practicing every chance I got and would DJ for my family on our platform. My family pushed me to start DJing publicly. Their support really gave me that fire, and we started working on getting myself exposure.

I did a set, alongside DJ Mekka Matrix Mekka-Matrix Montclair, for my sorority’s event. From there, I was invited to join Khaotic Empire . During my time in Khaotic, I DJ’d at clubs like Club 99, House of Booty, and WAM Family. My very first huge set was DJing alongside my brother from another, DJ Benji Benji Sumunye. I have been publicly DJing on the grid for two years.

DJing really took off for me after doing Singles Weekend in Bali for Highlife Destinations Highlife Destinations. I started getting recommended for parties, Greek events, and weddings. I’ve had the honor of DJing alongside so many amazing DJs on the grid, too many to name (I love you all though lol.)

I am a true lover of music. If you ever knew me growing up, you would know I always had headphones in my ears lol. I am a Southern queen, and I grew up in the era of music that always made you dance. I pride myself on bringing the “ratchet” energy and making the environment fun. In this chapter of my DJ career, I am redefining the term “ratchet” by referring to it as being free-spirited and providing a space where everyone can let their hair down. I may talk my junk every now and then on the mic, but I get a joy out of knowing people are enjoying hearing me mix. It fuels me to keep going.”
