Interviewing Stewart Lee.

The video is now live on my YouTube channel, link in bio!

I was lucky enough to have a long distance chat with Stewart about his brilliant new documentary @kingrockerfilm
As well as covering loads of other interesting and hilarious topics along the way.

//King Rocker//

Directed by Michael Cumming.

The film tells the fascinating back story to the brilliant band @_nightingales and a huge #KingKong statue from Birmingham.

Absolute honour to guest host, Michael Cumming’s Oxide Ghosts at @lighthousewolves this week.

Behind the scenes and unused clips from Brass Eye, edited into a 60 minute psychedelic art piece.

It’s an awesome film and I throughly recommend seeing it before it goes back into the vault. Seeing Chris Morris break character and laugh at his own jokes, is worth the admission fee alone!

📺 CHANNEL 4 ONCE LET MARK THOMAS CHASE ARMS DEALERS, STAND FOR PARLIAMENT AND PHONE THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA FROM A PUB STAGE.

Thirty years later, he’s coming to Digbeth to explain how the hell it all got on television.

THE MARK THOMAS COMEDY PRODUCT celebrates its 30th anniversary at Mockingbird Cinema on Thursday 12 November at 7.30pm, as part of Square Eyes TV Festival.

Mark Thomas will be joined by series director Michael Cumming, the director behind BRASS EYE and TOAST OF LONDON, to screen two classic episodes and revisit one of the boldest programmes Channel 4 ever broadcast.

The show mixed stand-up, investigative journalism and brilliantly ridiculous public stunts. Mark interviewed MPs dressed as a bear, took on McDonald’s, stood in a parliamentary election and pursued illegal arms dealers. One investigation even contributed to Finland tightening its arms-export legislation.

It was funny, furious and regularly pushed television into places it had never been before.

🎤 Mark and Michael will reveal how they persuaded Channel 4 to put it on air, what happened when the lawyers became involved, the trouble they caused along the way and whether anyone would be brave enough to commission it now.

After the screenings, the floor opens for an audience Q&A hosted by Mark Cartwright, aka GingerBeardMark.

Two classic episodes. Thirty years of stories. The people who made it, live in the room.

The television landscape has changed beyond recognition. This should be a properly entertaining night finding out how they got away with it.

🎟️ Tickets are on sale now via the link in our bio.

Channel 4 comedy The Mark Thomas Comedy Product is 30 years old, and to celebrate we're bringing Mark Thomas & series director Michael Cumming (@oxide_ghosts) to @mockbirdcinema on Thu 12th November.

We'll screen two classic episodes of the show, then @gingerbeardmark will chat with Mark and Michael about all the trouble they got into making it and how it could (literally) never be made today.
