All things🙏🏾🙌🏾

Latergram is an understatement. But I couldn’t let 18 months pass without a regonition of the people who know me, and even those who don’t, who prayed over me, encouraged me, sent me good vibes and held my hand as a I waited. My miracle baby was born on January 16th, 2023. I didn’t get to hold him until my birthday (Jan 18th - second to last photo). Holding him for the first time I felt a wave of overwhelming gratitude. He is the manifestation of the love sent to me from so many people living and gone. Eternally grateful and humbled to be his mama. And so so many thank yous to my tribe. 💖✨🫶🏽🫶🏽🙏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 by @gingerwanabe

Recently.🧡

Last year on my birthday I posted and decided to take some time away from IG. For the first time I didn’t put a time limit on it and I was shocked at how long I went without it. Recently been spending a lot more time here but haven’t posted because there’s just too much to say and I haven’t had the energy to write it down. I’ll find the energy one of these days to write the post I really wanna write about the power of group prayer and manifestation and the multitude of blessings surrounding my birth story. But this is all I got today. Happy Mothers Day to all the mommas, parents and caretakers out there. This shit is wild and crazy and frustrating and beautiful.💖✨

The last two years have been so taxing mentally and physically and I think I really need break my reliance on some of the crutches I used to survive these uncertain times. One of those is def this app. Gonna try to be more present this year and do more IRL.✌🏽❤️ by @gingerwanabe

4 score years ago, these two young ones got hitched. The road hasn’t always been straight or easy, but I just want to say thank you for providing us with such a loving family, faults and all. I’ve seen what love can do first hand. I can’t imagine being more loved than I am by you two. 🍾🥂 to 40 years of marriage, and your soon to be new roles as grandparents (sis, not me😉) 🖤🖤🖤🖤 #40thanniversary #blacklove #blackfamily by @gingerwanabe

(no I’m not pregnant, just hopeful) I’m sorry that this road is and has been more difficult than either of us could have imagined. But I’m hopeful that soon, we can celebrate this day with such joy, knowing the struggle it took to get there. 🖤🖤🖤 @tsebona

TW: infertility/miscarriage

My happy place is by the water. The moment I get to the ocean and put my feet in the sand my whole energy shifts for the better.

I recently went through my 4th miscarriage and I needed one of those energy shifts. So I went to Umdloti, a small beach town near Durban. This view was so beautiful and was like a balm to my soul.

We’re at the end of National Infertility Awareness Week and I can’t help but notice how white many of these infertility spaces are. And yet I know there are so many black people and people of color struggling with the same thing.

I really don’t have the mental capacity to be deep or inspiring but I didn’t want the week to pass and not share. Because I want more black people to see other black people struggling with infertility.

So here’s a quick rundown of this black woman’s most recent non-viable pregnancy.

Pic 2: First few days of anticoagulant injections
Pic 3: After a couple weeks of injections
Pic 4: home pregnancy test 12 days post IUI
Pic 5: First blood test results
Pic 6: positive home test (I also had blood test that went from 9- 48 in two days so things looked good)
Pic 7: This was 1 week after the first positive test. Not a good sign that it was still giving the same weeks reading as the previous week.

This pregnancy started strong but quickly declined. My levels just didn’t increase properly and I was advised to stop all meds.

Currently on a break from #ttc For my mental and emotional health.

For all of my #infertility warriors sending you love and light 💖✨. It can be really dark here. #niaw

I’ve been thinking a lot about #infertility. Obviously because of my own struggles but also because of how many other people I know who are struggling with the same thing. And what keeps coming up for me is how this experience of our bodies not functioning of behaving the way we want them to, is a chance to develop empathy for those who deal with this same struggle in various other ways. Like trans people and disabled people, and people dealing with chronic illnesses.

Like it’s so frustrating watching other people do things so easily that are outrageously difficult for yourself. Or having so few people in your life who understand what you’re going through that you need to reach out into the interwebs for support. I see you.

This has been a difficult thing to deal with. But I’m a firm believer that there’s always an opportunity to grow through what you go through. Just been reflecting on how this particular part of my story is also widening my capacity to empathize with others.💜 by @gingerwanabe

My Arsenal of drugs for the #tww 🙏🏾🙏🏾🤞🏽✨

Had my first #iui this week. See my stories if you feel like #storytime regarding the experience.

Side note: I joined #GF2021 with @mumumansion and I’m noticing (✨) that I’m being challenged to stand-up for myself and set boundaries with people more. It’s uncomfortable for me but I’m proud that I’m building these skills. by @gingerwanabe

**Trigger warning: miscarriage, infertility**

My hcg levels were increasing, but not appropriately, and they were too high for there not to be a clear sac and visible fetus and fetal pole. I was scheduled for a DD&C two days later. During the DD&C they did find evidence of the pregnancy which helped to rule out ectopic and molar pregnancy. Additionally, my doctors revealed that my uterus is HUGE. The tools that they use for a DD&C are about 36cm (14in) long, and he could fit the whole thing inside my uterus without reaching the top 🤯. Anyways, after two pregnancies, a lockdown, and all the anxieties that came with being human in 2020, I had gained about 30lbs (btw 10-15kgs). And to top it off, my blood pressure was high. Now, I know for you average sized people, this may seem like a weird thing to get so upset about. But the combo of the weight gain and the blood pressure triggered some deep seeded fatphobic self-hatred. I have been fat (obese, clinically) my entire adult life. I have never had high blood pressure. And it’s one of those sick things I’m always proud of. Like I’m fat but no high blood pressure, and no diabetes so BAM! Well, once I stopped taking all the meds I was on, and reduced my salt intake a little, my blood pressure seems to have stabilized. Additionally, as my hormones stabilized and my uterus shrunk (somewhat), I’ve lost some of the weight I put on from the pregnancies (nothing to do with diet and exercise…just want to make that 100% clear). The COVID weight I’m claiming as a side effect of surviving 2020, and I’m making peace with it. All in all, I’m physically fine. Trying to get back to moving my body more as 2020 has been a significantly more sedentary year for me. I’m pretty sure I had COVID before it was a thing, and have somehow avoided getting it from my husband and sister-in-law (she lived with us at the time) this year (🙌🏾). So, I may have my frustrations with my body, but it has seen me through 2020 and countless other trials. And “it [my body] is the only way that I get to exist in this realm” (paraphrase from @sonyareneetaylor ) More soon.🖤 by @gingerwanabe

**Trigger warning**
miscarriage & infertility

Hi y’all,
I’ve been kinda quiet for a while. 2020 has been exhausting. I needed some time. But I’m back to share more of my #infertility ( #secondaryinfertility ) journey with y’all. This is more of a physical health update. I plan to share my emotional journey in a later post.

Just a few weeks after sharing some of my story on IG, I had another late period. It came 5 days late. I tested on late-days 3,4, & 5 and got negatives. In the evening on day 5 I started bleeding. Once my period was over, I had one test left, so I decided to take it just to get rid of it. And of course, because my body is WILD, it was positive. I was immediately confused and stressed. Luckily, we had just started going to a fertility clinic, so I was able to call and get in with them very quickly. Initially, the doctor told me, it probably was an early miscarriage, we can give you the abortion pills and send you home.

Unable to give up so easily, I asked if there was no possible way it could be viable, and he said we would need to do a blood test and see how high my levels were. Did the blood test levels were low enough that Doc said we may be able to “save” the pregnancy with the right treatments. I was put on progesterone vaginal inserts, prednisone (steroid), and a daily aspirin, along with my prenatal vitamins. Everyone at the clinic encouraged me to take it easy and have my hcg levels checked every few days. After 1 week I had more bleeding, went back to the doctor, and they could only see a small sac but my levels were increasing. Week 2, more bleeding, they gave me some sort of drip (IV) to minimize the risk of embryo rejection, and I went home again. During this time I watched lots of Netflix shows, did 1st trimester friendly yoga, and focused all of my energy on helping this little thing take hold.

I had bleeding on and off, but finally around week 3 of this routine, I had more significant bleeding and clotting, and I had a feeling it was over. About a week after the clotting, the doctor said it was time to give up... by @gingerwanabe
