At long last I found some time to read one of Virginia Betts poetry books and I am so glad that I did! There are so many fantastically relatable poems in ‘Tourist to the Sun’. ‘In my shoes’ sent me on a trip down memory lane, whilst ‘The uninvited guest’ reminded me of the time my life is now at, ‘Memory box’ and ‘Families, caught’ evoked memories of a not so distanced past and ‘On the disused airfield’ took me to a different era entirely.
I feel that I have been on quite a journey through this book and it’s left me wanting to read much more of Virginias work!

Ipswich Book Festival today was brilliant and it was also really amazing to see so many people in Ipswich town centre - the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing. Massive thank you to everyone involved in organising the festival, it really was wonderful to see Ipswich so lively 👏👏👏 #ipswich #ipswichbookfestival2026 #morethanwords taken in Ipswich, Suffolk by @ginnb900

A big warning to my author friends: I get about 5 scammers contacting me every day to offer ‘services’ for authors. They use AI to write their emails and spit your blurb and information they can gather back at you. They are becoming creative- pretending to be senior editors, asking if you have an agent, recommending agents (who no doubt want a fee) you can check- I have already contacted the real editors to tell them they are being impersonated. Please share this far and wide! by @ginnb900

COMING VERY SOON! In a matter of weeks I will be in full-on S.A.D. hibernation mode (it's already nipping at me a little bit, tbh) for FOUR MONTHS and thus this is my final poetry gig of 2026. Would be great if YOU (yes, YOU!) were there!

I'm doing a slightly tweaked version of my one hour Fringe show - Poetry for People Who Think They Don't Like Poetry! - from over the summer, with visuals and all sorts! It'll be a lot of fun!

The amazing @ginnb900 is also doing a feature set - including some songs! - and we have no less than three BRILLIANT (capitals entirely deserved) openers doing 15 mins each to get you thoroughly warmed up!

A real celebration of local poetry and spoken word. DON'T DELAY, GET A TICKET TODAY (The venue isn't massive)!

Q: Where did all the exclamation marks go, James?
A: I used 'em all in this post by the look of it...

This will be a great gig with music, wine, nibbles and visuals! James is bringing his fringe tour to Ipswich and I’ll be ‘singing down the government’ and hopefully making you laugh about cats, Liam Gallagher and Keith Richard’s! Four great support acts too! Come and have a listen and bring a poem with you as I’m happy to share the stage. Get your tickets now - support local artists- cheaper in advance and bums on seats guarantee a great show. https://jamesdomestic.com/product/1336787-james-domestic-virginia-betts-at-bin-93-tickets by @ginnb900

I’m appearing at #ipswichbookfestival2026 this year’s theme is #morethanwords celebrating books that inspire, challenge and connect us. I’ll be there on October 3rd and 4th talking about my book, Burnt Lungs and Bitter Sweets and signing my books as @ginnb900 and with @urbanpigspress I’d love to see you there! Which book changed YOUR life? @ipswichbookfestival #ibf taken in Ipswich, Suffolk by @ginnb900

Well I think we’ve reached a new low. An AI stars in a feature film. The AI ‘actor’ also said she thought humans were the real problem because they control AI and could make her do bad things. So yes, it can only get worse. by @ginnb900
