Happy 21st Birthday, Griffin! Wow, how quickly time has flown by! I want to share how truly incredible it’s been to be your dad. Nothing in this world compares to this amazing feeling. I hope you’ve embraced our Italian heritage—rich in values, morals, and traditions passed down through generations—and that you’re ready to continue this legacy for the next. You’ve taught me so much—patience, compassion, vulnerability—and shown me that being a parent is a privilege, an opportunity to witness the ever-changing world. It hasn’t always been easy, but seeing you grow into a remarkable young man makes me the proudest papa. With the strength and wisdom you’ve gained, I have no doubt you’ll create a vibrant, adventurous, and creative life. Thank you for being your wonderful self. I love you yesterday, today, and forever, and I can’t wait to see what amazing adventures await you in the future!
Love you heaps

I’m saddened by the news of the passing of Alan. I had recognised the unconditional commitment he had for the community and was drawn to capture his portrait to have his legacy live and his story told and not forgotten. Alan Jessop OAM (1930–2026) is known to Canberrans as the Salvo Man, having collected donations for the Salvation Army in the city for over 30 years. Jessop moved to Canberra from Sydney in 1988, by which time he had retired and was looking for volunteer work. He’d become interested in the Salvation Army’s work while living in Wollongong, so he joined the Canberra City Corps of the Salvos and began collecting money outside what was then the Monaro Mall (now the Canberra Centre). Despite bouts of ill health, including cancer and heart disease, Jessop continued his volunteer work. Indeed, in 2022 he expressed his gratitude to staff at Canberra Hospital ‘for keeping me well enough to collect for so long. Getting up, going to work, talking with people was what kept me going.’
It is estimated that Jessop has raised more than $4 million to support Salvos initiatives and programs in the ACT. Such is his status as a Canberra icon and the scale of his contribution to the organisation that, during the COVID-19 pandemic – when volunteers younger than 70 were the only ones allowed to work – the Salvation Army replaced the real-life Salvo Man with a life-size photograph and an electronic donation box. Jessop was the 2011 ACT Local Hero and in 2022 his contribution to his community was recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia. Alan Jessop OAM (1930–2026) is known to Canberrans as the Salvo Man, having collected donations for the Salvation Army in the city for over 30 years. The portrait was acquisition by the Australian National Portrait Gallery. @portraitau Rest in Peace God Bless You taken in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory by @ginozardo

Look who I bumped into the legendary Travis, @travisfimmel
Here he is giving Griffin @griffinzardo a shout-out for his debut in the Stan production “Scrublands. Silver’ @stanaustralia

Travis, known for his role as Ragnar in “Vikings,” has also appeared in Australian Stan productions.

I first met Travis over 20 years ago in New York City during a job. That weekend, Bobby, Mario, and I ventured upstate to a motorcycle swap meet, where I discovered a stunning, all-original Harley Davidson that I longed to buy but had no funds. In a remarkable act of generosity, Travis pulled out a wad of cash and handed it to me to purchase the motorcycle. Now that’s true legend status! I’ve created unforgettable memories on that motorcycle, all thanks to his kindness.

In addition to his acting, Travis has a beer label called Traval @traval_ in Australia and is a passionate supporter of Australian farmers, living an authentic life off the land. @travla_

Ps. I did pay him back 💰😘

Cheers, matey!!🍻🍻🍻 by @ginozardo
