Let’s define tucking..

Tucking is covering natural hair within or behind a braid. IMO there are 2 types, color tucking and tucking just the ends (blunt ends or otherwise).

Here’s when and why you should do it:

1) Your client wants a completely different color, different from their natural hair color. This is a no brainer, idk about you but if I book color braids I don’t want to see my natural black hair throughout the braids. It looks professionally done when tucked completely. It takes longer to do so charge extra or include it in the price.

2) Lets say your braids will be the same color as your natural hair, you should still tuck the ends no matter what. Not tucking them can cause the natural hair to stick out and make the braids look older much faster.

If nothing else always tuck the last 2 inches
Your client will more than likely thank you and return if they feel as though their hair lasted.

Practice tucking with every client and eventually it’ll become second nature ☺️
