I’ve been trying to put into words what this trip felt like, and I’m not sure I can. I just know I came back with a very full heart.

Maybe because I’m in such a different moment of my life. Maybe because I’m changing in more ways than only one.

Going back to the same places, smells, tastes, people I love but experiencing them as the person I am today.

Nothing really stays the same.
We change. Or better, we evolve.

Some very important people in my family are no longer physically here, but somehow I feel their presence in so many different shapes and forms. In familiar places, little gestures, stories, food, laughter. Life has a funny way of keeping people close.

And maybe that’s also why the more you grow, the harder it gets to leave. To say goodbye.

This time, especially.

My mind goes back and forth between past and future, while my body keeps reminding me to be here, now.

It’s changing. I’m changing.

It’s not always comfortable and I don’t always recognize myself, but I’m learning to meet this new version with curiosity instead of resistance.

I’m holding space for a new life to grow.
And maybe this really is the best shape I’ve ever been in.

There is so much joy in that. Seeing how this little life already brings people together, makes them smile, even complete strangers.

I came back feeling full.

Of family, roots, memories, new memories, love, change, life, all of it.

No lesson here, just a little note to self:

savor it.
let it change you.

Esalen, one week later.

i’m still thinking about these four days.
and yes, part of me wishes i was still there.
not because i want to escape life, but because something felt so deeply right about it.

I thought I would come home with answers. Instead, I came home with better questions.
i went there hoping to reconnect with myself a little. and somehow what unfolded was much deeper than i expected.
what i keep coming back to is that the experience itself wasn’t built on anything extravagant.
and yet it felt like the most luxurious thing.

space. time. food.
breath. movement. conversation.
interaction. nature. silence. play. presence.

it made me realize that maybe this is luxury.
 having enough space around us to finally hear ourselves.

my inner child came out to play in ways i hadn’t felt in years.
and i realized that’s where i feel the most happy, the most free, the most myself.

it wasn’t becoming someone else. it felt more like meeting myself again.

coming back has been strange.
because once your body remembers that feeling, it’s hard not to want more of it. i almost wanted to hold onto it forever, but i think what i’m learning is that the practice isn’t keeping the feeling.
it’s trusting that it’s available.
and building a life that creates more moments like that.

what if being alive is finding the state where we feel most alive  and returning to it as often as we can?
not perfectly. not forever.
just enough to remember.

there’s so much more inside of us to connect with than we think. so much more play. so much more presence. so much more potential waiting for the conditions to emerge.

Idyllic infinite golden hours.

Idyllic infinite golden hours,
where time forgot its place,
and the sky stretched wide like honey
falling softly over space.

We lived there for a moment,
or maybe for a life,
skin warmed gold beneath the sun,
far away from noise and strife.

Evenings arrived slowly,
without edges, without end,
only light dissolving gently
into light once again.

In that suspended glow,
the world turned soft and kind
salt upon our shoulders,
linen dancing in the wind.

Some hours never pass.
They linger beyond dusk,
golden, quiet, endless,

A Souper Villeggiatura’s week, in early January in California. In love.

villeggiatura means taking your time, a luxury in today’s hectic world. It means immersing yourself in a calm, slow-paced environment without the constraint of time-spending days or weeks in a state of reverie, letting your mind wander, allowing yourself moments of pure contemplation. It means a platform for mental and physical regeneration, a beautiful catharsis.
Villeggiatura means meditating in a place of your choice, a place that is an extension of yourself, a reflection of your inner being. It means a sense of belonging that can come only from an extended stay. It requires an intense communion with the place, the discovery of its customs and behaviors, and an understanding of its unique rhythms. by @giuliaborellini
