Só um tiquinho da temporada Brasil desse ano. Por uma desventura do destino, passei metade da minha viagem acamada com intoxicação alimentar 🥰 então sopas, soros e remédios não entraram no carrossel mas pode contar que estavam presentes. Apesar do tempo reduzido com os que amo, a qualidade multiplicou cada segundo. Vi minhas melhores amigas que pariram minhas novas melhores amigas, amei muito nossos filhotinhos 🐶, aproveitei minha família e até fomos no museu. Então valeu. Sempre vale. I was listening to @vouschurch’s message where @lisadharper taught on the 59 “imperatives” in the Bible, verses directly charging us on how to live in relation to one another. Love one another, encourage each other, be devoted to one another.

I laughingly remember that at some point in my life I thought man’s noblest mission was to retreat away to the Himalayas and live in a meditative state. Ha. To each their calling, but the more I grow, the more I realize the true test of wisdom lies in sharpening our ability to practice otherness. Patience, empathy, compassion, understanding, curiosity… the everyday nouns that force us to confront our inevitable humanity.

This past month was a mountaintop for us. We celebrated victories like never before and God’s favor feels unfair. We’re soaking it all in, with the tried and true certainty that every ascent demands a descent, and in no time we’ll find ourselves back in the mundane. Here’s why I hit the jackpot: because I get to share life with someone who’s a pro in the mundane. And guess what his mundane is full of? Tiny little seemingly insignificant moments of otherness. Stacking onto each other like bricks—invisible to the naked eye. Text messages, calls, advice, pressure, sacrifice, challenges, confrontation, laughter, pain, joy, and a lot of unseen. Every day. The Lord knew the imperatives were needed because the process is messy, and it takes a truly courageous person to surrender themselves to the journey of the climb—with the righteousness required to call it worthy.

All of life’s problems exist in the gap between me and how I perceive God. All of them. The ones we think are external, the ones we see as others’ fault, the ones we think we have no control over. Crippling fear, longings and hopeless desires, confusion and insecurity. What fears are just me not confronting my idols? What unmet expectations and desires are me placing other things above God? What insecurities am I breeding because I can’t fully walk in the identity God has given me? What burdens am I making heavier because of my inability to rest in the promise of eternity?

Ask yourself: can I be content with God alone? If the answer is no, then I’m opening doors for so called external problems to take away my peace. Nothing can steal my stillness if He is my priority above all else. The greatest challenge of life—and dare I call it the greatest liberation—is truly placing God first. I’m invincible after that. by @giuliaheravi
