As art advisor for the new @andazlisbon by @patricia_urquiola, together with @giuul, I selected for the reception area the portugues artist Luisa Ramires for a site specific installation @ramireszizi

The series “Rhythm” speaks about places and their time. These are three landscapes, created through the repetition of “nature glitches”. By using a drawing of a stone as a matrix, the artist cuts different parts of the image to recreate by hand the glitch effect, speaking about the intersection between the digital and the real landscape. Through the lens of our fast-paced technological society, the artist looks at the geologic passivity of place.

On the rooftop of the newly opened @andazlisbon by @patricia_urquiola is the LUZZI restaurant @luzzilisbon where as art advisor, assisted by @giuul, I’ve asked the trio @ves.tres formed by @num.para @madalenajpequito @mariadebritomatias to conceive a site specific murals inspired by the city of Lisbon In the mural Birds Watching, Lisbon is observed through the watchful eyes of crows. These birds, known for their memory, become guardians of the city, carrying with them the streets, rooftops, and stories of the places they have visited.

BIO VÊS.TRÊS is a collective project composed of artists Ana Malta, Madalena Pequito, and Maria de Brito Matias. The collaboration began in 2018, after they finished their studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. The desire to continue working closely as colleagues led to the creation of joint works where pictorial harmony creates a game of seeing and recognizing. The question that remains will always be: “Do you see three?” #artadvisor #designcurator

This past june opened my latest project as art advisor selecting artists and commissioning site specific artworks for the brand new Andaz in Lisbon @andazlisbon designed by beloved @patricia_urquiola in the pic by @francisconogueira the site specific installation commissione to Sofia Crus aka KRUS @kr.us “Vessels of Memory” transforms old Portuguese olive oil vases into a landscape of memory and color. Each vase, weathered by time, is elevated on pillars of varying heights, creating a dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression. With vibrant colors, abstract shapes, and dynamic lines, the installation invites viewers to reflect on the passage of time, cultural heritage, and the connection between past and present, breathing new life into these historic objects.

While approching the bar of the new @andazlisbon by @patricia_urquiola I ve been working in as art advisor together with @giuul I’ve asked to Beatrice Bonafini to surprise us with a dypthic: Bea Bonafini Nubia and The Floating One

The project consists of two paintings created in finely engraved gouache on cork, designed in “clover leaf” shapes that reference ancient symbolism and Portugal’s cultural heritage. The works draw on Portuguese and Mediterranean myths, depicting sea-related figures such as dolphin and whale protectresses, tritons, and nereids, while incorporating poetic imagery from Luís de Camões. The compositions also reference Paleolithic and Greek depictions of sea creatures, blending historical and mythological elements. Visually, the paintings resemble mosaics or inlays, with intricate, tessellated patterns that highlight the relationship between myth and nature. The use of cork not only evokes Portugal’s status as a leading cork producer but also symbolizes the country’s connection to both land and sea, linking myth with cultural and natural landscapes.

BIO. Bea Bonafini is an interdisciplinary artist based between London and Barcelona, tracing the currents between past and present through painting, tapestry, ceramics, and drawing. Rooted in Mediterranean archaeology and mythology, she delves into origin stories and ancient metamorphoses, seeking the hidden threads that connect human experience across time. Through layering and reconfiguration, she revives these narratives, allowing them to emerge in contemporary forms that are both intimate and monumental. In these transient sanctuaries, histories, mythologies, and identities converge, fracture, and metamorphose—offering spaces where the past resonates, the present expands, and new stories are born.
