What can a cup of hot chocolate make possible?

For Sabina and her friends, it was a chance to turn cups of hot chocolate and hot cider into a year’s worth of safe drinking water for more than 200 people.

At their town’s annual art walk, they put that idea into action. One cup at a time, they raised more than $200 to support GivePower’s efforts to make safe water more accessible.

These young changemakers are a beautiful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a world of difference.

In fact, just $1 can provide one person with access to safe water for up to an entire year. Imagine what that kind of generosity can make possible, month after month.

At just 12 years old, Zyrene already knows exactly what she wants to do. She dreams of opening a shop on her island in the Philippines, selling everything from school supplies to fresh fish caught in the surrounding waters. She hopes to share the richness of her island with others while building a better future for her family.

Zyrene’s dream is rooted in something deeply personal. From an early age, Zyrene watched the people she loved give selflessly to their family and community. Their example of generosity, sacrifice and care became the foundation for her vision: to build a life and business that gives back to the island that raised her.

And this summer, when a team from @nrgenergy stepped onto the shore for a GivePower Trek, a new chapter in her story began.

Meet the future businesswoman who means business—and see where her dream is taking her. 🔗 in bio by @givepowerfoundation

Anord saw a need on campus and decided to take action.

Like many university students, he had a lot to balance. Classes and homework demanded his attention, but Anord also needed to earn enough to support himself and keep his education moving forward. Every hour spent working was an hour pulled away from studying, resting and seeing friends. Each day was a constant calculation of where his limited time and energy needed to go.

And Anord knew he wasn’t the only one stretched thin. On top of keeping up with university, tens of thousands of students were trying to get through each day without reliable access to safe water.

Something had to give. Anord needed a way to support himself that didn’t demand so much of his time. He hadn’t come this far just to spend all his energy keeping his head above water.

Then, he realized he could solve more than one problem at once. He started delivering GivePower’s safe, affordable water across campus—and the idea took off. The more demand grew, the more Anord could earn without sacrificing the time he needed to succeed in school. He finally had more breathing room.

Today, Anord is one of the Solar Water Farm’s leading customers, and what began with one student has grown into a team of six. Together, they’re earning more than they thought possible while investing in their futures.

Anord created an opportunity for himself, then opened the door for other students to step into it, too. by @givepowerfoundation

For some families, getting safe water means going the extra mile. Literally.

It can mean walking under the scorching sun with heavy jerrycans in hand. Arms straining, hands blistering, measuring the distance home one step at a time. Still, every step of the journey home is worth it when it means bringing safe water back to your family.

At GivePower’s Solar Water Farms, we see that effort every single day.

We know every person who arrives has somewhere to be. We see the tired smiles as another jerrycan fills, and parents gathering their strength to lift it onto tired shoulders for the journey home. That safe water will be poured into their child’s cup, used to cook the family’s next meal and help them stay healthy for another day of school or work.

Our teams meet that commitment with their own.

When the heat bears down and the work gets exhausting, we keep going. We keep the systems running, fill container after container and troubleshoot when something goes awry. We step in when equipment needs attention, when the lines keep growing.

Because every full jerrycan is more than safe water. It’s headed home—to a family, a child, someone counting on a better tomorrow. And that’s reason enough to keep going.

That’s why this year’s #CustomerServiceWeek theme, “The Extra Mile,” feels especially fitting.

When someone has already gone the extra mile for their family, we’re honored to go the extra mile for them.

And you can, too.

Go the extra mile this week—and every month after—by helping keep safe water flowing for families in need. 🔗 in bio. by @givepowerfoundation

When Julius was invited to join his first GivePower Trek, he didn't hesitate.

He loves volunteering and working alongside others, so when his manager, Marcella, asked if he wanted to join, his answer was an immediate yes.

Still, a few questions weighed on him. How would he fit in? How would they communicate? Would he be able to keep up?

As GivePower's first Deaf team member, Julius was used to working with people he knew well at the Solar Water Farm in Bamburi. This Trek would bring together team members from across Kenya.

In the past, Julius had sometimes felt left out of conversations with people who didn't know sign language. "As a Deaf person, I've often had to work harder to prove myself," Julius explained.

What he did know was that the team already shared something important: a passion for the work and the community they came to serve. That gave them a place to start.

As the week went on, his teammates became curious about Deaf culture and started learning sign language so he could be part of every moment. With every shared meal, long day on the project and late-night card game, those connections grew stronger.

Julius realized he wasn't on the outside looking in. He was right in the middle of it all: valued and fully part of the team.

"I felt emotional in a positive way because of the unity, friendship and happiness within the group."

By the end of the Trek, co-workers had become supportive friends, with inside jokes that left them laughing until their faces hurt. It was the kind of week where, somehow, the right people had all said yes.

"I would love the opportunity to join again in the future."

Deaf Awareness Month just ended, but creating spaces where everyone belongs is year-round work. We're proud to celebrate Julius and a team that made room for one another. Julius hopes his story inspires more connection between the Deaf and hearing communities.

When Joshua clicked “apply” on a LinkedIn job posting, he had no idea it would lead to helping keep safe water flowing for more than 130,000 people.

At the time, Joshua was working as an Assistant Engineer in the oil industry. He was ready for a change: a chance to grow in water engineering and serve his community in a meaningful way.

Fast forward eight months, and that decision has taken Joshua deep into the world of solar-powered desalination. He has helped keep critical equipment running, expanded his technical knowledge and taken on one of his biggest challenges yet: helping bring the Migadini Solar Water Farm back into operation.

The revival wasn’t easy. Some days stretched from sunup to sundown. Joshua was still learning the technology, familiarizing himself with each part of the system and finding his footing in a new role, a new industry and a new team.

What kept him going? The people waiting on the other side of the work.

With support from his teammates and managers, Joshua and the crew pushed forward until the site was running again.

For Joshua, seeing safe water flowing brought him back to why he joined GivePower in the first place.

“I chose GivePower to serve the community by keeping desalination equipment safe and up and running, because serving the community is my passion.”

Today, Joshua says the work at GivePower has helped him grow professionally while also giving him the ability to support himself, the people in his life and his community.

For more than 500 students in Lochoredome, Kenya, an exciting new chapter is underway.

@mohiafrica’s school is growing fast, and students come here every day chasing big dreams. As MOHI adds a second classroom and new housing for staff, GivePower is helping with two essentials: reliable electricity and safe water.

This project will expand solar capacity and provide access to safe drinking water. Together, these upgrades will transform what an ordinary school day looks like.

Students can learn in brighter classrooms and keep studying after dark. Digital tools can connect them to ideas and opportunities far beyond their community. Safe drinking water can help kids stay healthy, stay in class and focus on the future they’re building.

Teachers will have more tools to bring their lessons to life and set students up for success. Families can spend less time searching for water and more time on what matters most. Across the community, reliable electricity and safe water will strengthen public health and economic opportunities.

This project will open new possibilities for more than 5,600 people. For a community already dreaming big, brighter classrooms and safe water are just the beginning. by @givepowerfoundation

“Connecting with the students at the elementary school was the most memorable moment on Trek. I felt very emotional when we left, and the kids cried and gave me handwritten notes expressing their gratitude and love for us.”

For Andrew, saying goodbye was one of the hardest parts of his GivePower Trek.

He and the team at @nrgenergy had traveled across the world to help students in the Philippines facing the everyday challenges of unreliable electricity.

In the heat and humidity, classrooms had no fans to help students stay cool and focused. Teachers had limited access to multimedia tools that could bring lessons to life. And as daylight disappeared, students had no reliable light to continue studying.

So, the Trekkers rolled up their sleeves and got to work. Each day, they worked from sunup to sundown, digging trenches and building the solar microgrid piece by piece to help power the school.

And somewhere between the long workdays, the Trekkers began to feel woven into the Dinet community. Mornings started with Zumba, alongside the students. Between work, the Trekkers learned traditional dances and sat with community elders to learn pawid, the local art of weaving dried coconut leaves. And when it came time for games, everyone was all in. Andrew coached a team of students as everyone cheered from the sidelines, culminating in one unforgettable moment: A student caught an egg one-handed from 20 yards away to win the game. Andrew couldn’t have been prouder.

After seven days, the NRG Energy team had helped bring reliable power to Dinet Elementary School. Now, students can learn in cooler classrooms, teachers have more ways to bring lessons to life and the school day no longer has to end when the sun goes down.

But the week had left its mark in smaller moments, too. An egg will always take Andrew back to that game and the students beaming with pride. And as classroom lights now stay on after dark, students will remember the bonds that made this week so meaningful.
