My grandmother grew up in 1920s Cuba. She came to this country at 21, on a ship called the Chiriqui, in May 1939. In our #afrolatino household, this album used to make her dance like she was back there. Every. Weekend. Mama Kerr and I finally got to see it on #Broadway last night. Huge kudos to the entire cast, band and creative team — they gave this music everything it deserved. Some music just lives in your blood. 🇨🇺🎶❤️ @buenavistamusical

Last week we were at the News & Doc Emmys nominated for our Hurricane Katrina retrospective documentary 20 years later 🎥🏆 I helped build this from the ground up — creative development, concept, booking the talent and voices that brought it to life.

The heart of it was @robinrobertsgma and @rocknrobintv Robin reported in the aftermath and in the years after #Katrina and followed the story through the rebuild. That authenticity through her lens is what made this doc something special.

Gratitude for those who trusted us to share their stories. Congrats to all the winners and nominees🙌🏾 Proud of this team and this work. @abcnewsstudios @disneyplus @hulu
