There is a particular cruelty in being left for the one thing your body can no longer give....
It can make you feel as if all the years of love, loyalty, tenderness, sexuality and history have suddenly been outweighed by a biological fact — as if your worth as a woman has been reduced to fertility.
The wound is not only losing him; it is the fear that you were loved conditionally, and that someone younger can simply replace what time has taken from you.
But healing begins when you separate his life choice from your value.
Wanting children may be a legitimate need for him, but your inability to give him that does not make you lesser, defective, or obsolete.
You are still a whole woman, not a failed version of a younger one.
The work is to grieve the future you cannot have with him without turning that grief into a verdict on yourself — and, slowly, to remember that being irreplaceable is not the same thing as being able to fulfill every dream another person has.
