A misguided activist group is suing USFWS to strip away hunting and fishing opportunities in National Wildlife Refuges, including the Everglades Headwaters and St. Marks Refuges in Florida.

Under no circumstances should hunting and fishing rights in National Wildlife Refuges be revoked or further limited. In our most recent article (link in bio), we lay out exactly why this attempt is misguided from a historical, legal, and practical standpoint.

Education and awareness are key to maintaining our American hunting and fishing heritage, full freezers, and tight lines into the future. Spread the word!

Last week a captain got cited for illegally gill netting 2600+ Florida pompano. Cited?

Glades Hunter supports arresting large scale pompano poachers, seizing their vessels, permanently removing their commercial licenses, and pursuing jail time.

These fish are on the cusp of a rebound in population. It is vital we strongly deter this egregious disregard for our fisheries if we want to sustain full freezers and tight lines into the future.

We are environmentalists with guns.

Check out this mature doe and yearling traveling where canals were plugged and sheet flow is being restored in Picayune per the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. Pretty cool.

The amendment to Senate Bill 2508, passed by the Florida Senate, contains unnecessary bureaucracy that is unhelpful for Everglades restoration projects such as this (and reducing coastal discharges). Read the article linked in the bio to understand some high level concepts and language of the Bill.

These are different views of STA 5. Sugar companies are suing the Army Corp based on alleged water supply issues with the EAA Reservoir Project. This project will create another STA and reservoir and is crucial for Everglades restoration. The lawsuit is an effort to hinder progress. Learn all about it at GladesHunter.com by @glades.hunter

This is an existing Stormwater Treatment Area (“STA”). Don’t mind the plastic ducks. The EAA Reservoir Project which is underway will add a new STA as well as a reservoir that will facilitate sending clean water south to the Everglades while avoiding coastal discharges. One unnamed spot among many in Picayune that could be made more accessible, while at the same time, actually removing a road from the area. Go to GladesHunter.com to read how this is possible. It involves driving on the forbidden and sadly contentious berm by @glades.hunter
