$LMAO I moved to Asheville!! Loving it, assisting amazingly fun and kind people. Having my ass handed to me on the torch (wow it’s been a minute) and showing my roomies how to do it!! Made a flower with my lover 🥰 and now I’m busting out flower production ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the mountains are amazing- Asheville is good by @glassoriented$

To Reconceptualize Pain

Mud, pine needles, sand, palm leaves, wood, coconut, fire

2021

“I once viewed pain as a dark abyss which was able to consume me. Frightening and all-encompassing. However I have my essence which is light, courageous and energetic. When applying my essence to this dark abyss, I am able to transform it into a scared child needing comfort. An old friend laying their head on my shoulder. Giving my pain the grace it needs to be felt and overstood. This piece is a physical representation of my mental processes.” by @glassoriented

Today I met Bill Grix, a solo glass artist working in Honolulu. These pieces are some of his personal works that he hasn’t had the chance to develop as he’s occupied with commissions (using the cnc router). He was so very welcoming, open and kind to me. I will soon be meeting him again to have him on my podcast with @littlesistermagazine

I found bill today because I’m trying to hunt for hot glass on island. There’s gotta be some magical garage somewhere and I’m gonna find it. But I didn’t realize how fun it would be to meet the people along the way. Our glass community is so diverse and filled with interesting people all pulled together by some mysterious practice involving a diverse material. Most people don’t stray on this path, but those that do give their all and dedicate their lives to it. That’s so very powerful and it’s interesting to see how others in this industry view their own practice. I’m excited for this journey :3 by @glassoriented
