NEVERMORE is coming.

October 1–18
13 performances. 3 weekends. One water-soaked stage.

This fall, Orange Grove Dance premieres our newest evening-length performance work, NEVERMORE, at The Voxel in Baltimore.

Inspired by the poems, tales, obsessions, and haunted imagination of Edgar Allan Poe, NEVERMORE asks:

What remains of Poe’s work when language dissolves?

Six performers move through a world submerged in water, where rain falls continuously into a reflecting pool and movement, light, sound, and image blur the boundary between the living and the spectral.

Created by Orange Grove Dance and brought to life alongside an incredible team of artists, NEVERMORE brings together dance, immersive design, projection, sculptural lighting, an original score, and a stage transformed by water.

We have been dreaming, researching, building, and creating this world for a long time, and we are beyond excited to finally invite you inside.

We’re incredibly excited to share with you that our newest film, A CALL OR KNOCK, will premiere this week at the LIMINAL Dance Film Festival.

ANGELS OF THE ODD

What does it mean to reckon with the absurd when it becomes unbearable? How do we survive the things we cannot explain?

‘Angels of the Odd’ is a visceral duet inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s macabre short story ‘The Angel of the Odd’. The work explores disbelief in the face of catastrophe, and the human impulse to deny the strangeness of the tragedies that befall us. The story and this work echoes Poe’s own struggles with grief, addiction, and unraveling perception.

This duet serves as an early research study for NEVERMORE, Orange Grove Dance’s water- drenched, immersive exploration of Poe’s shadowed emotional landscapes. NEVERMORE will premiere at The Voxel in Fall 2026.

🌌R&D continued at The Voxel🌌

Last week we returned to The Voxel for Part Two of our Research + Development Residency, diving deeper into the technical and theatrical possibilities of our new work NEVERMORE, premiering @voxeltheater in the Fall. This week was about asking questions, testing limits, and letting light, water, sound, and movement lead us into the unknown.

This work explores the shadows and unspoken moments of Edgar Allan Poe’s macabre poetic world. Drawing from his haunting poetry and darkly revelatory tales, NEVERMORE transforms The Voxel into a shifting landscape of memory, downpours, obsession, and stark beauty…where movement, light, and madness blur the line between the living and the spectral.

We are endlessly grateful to our incredible OGD collaborators and to The Voxel for their generosity, curiosity, and willingness to step boldly into the unknown with us. This water soaked work would not be possible without that shared spirit of experimentation. We can’t wait to bring it fully to life this Fall.
