Lisa and I brought our trusty '72 DS. This seemed to invite another DS, a 21 'Injection Electronique'. The friendly owner told me this was his sixth DS. He's also had 2CV's and a CX. Proper Citroën fanatic.

Big love for this early Ami Break. Lisa approved as well, so now I can buy one I guess. I'd want the original Ami with the goofy rear window though!

Never noticed before, but the 'Pallas' trim is the same on an Ami as on a DS.

No LHM here yet. This ID was so old that it still had the red LHS system.

Wonder if this place still exists. Must have been fancy with the chrome lettering.

Way cooler interior than in the later models.

Very original car. According to the owner, it has never even been resprayed, which is super rare for an ID/DS. The color is a bit too dark for me, but I'll take it anyway.

Last sunday @zoabmagazine organised another fun meeting of classics in Amsterdam. As per usual, nice people with interesting cars showed up and had a coffee together. Thanks Roel!

@the_dutch_motorist his Saab 96 V4 was my absolute favourite of the day, especially because of the perfect patina. Just enough to show its age, not too much as to look shabby. Love it.

Festival of the Unexceptional, oftewel FOTU, is een wonderlijk evenement. het is een plek waar iedereen gezamenlijk geniet van het normale, het gewone en het alledaagse. dingen die je niet bewaart, maar die perongeluk daarom juist bijzonder geworden zijn.

het leuke aan het evenement is dat je dingen tegenkomt die voor ons heel bijzonder zijn, maar voor de Britse eilanden helemaal niet. denk hierbij aan alles van British Leyland (een soort Stellantis avant la lettre) of een vreemd en uit Japan geïmporteerd busje met klapdak.

andersom geldt hetzelfde. de Lancia Thesis van @parkedindutchstreets en onze eigen Suzuki Liana zijn dingen die ze in Engeland (of inderdaad: überhaupt overal) nooit meer zien. een man kwam ons vertellen dat hij al jaren geen Thesis meer had zien rijden.

de Liana krijgt een speciaal plekje in ons hart. tijdens de rit over het terrein en de oprijlaan ervan kregen we van alle kanten duimpjes, glimlachjes, wijsbewegingen en zinnen zoals 'wow, that's the reasonably priced car!'. twee grote autonamen in Engeland en daarbuiten zeiden dat we hun dag hadden gemaakt, dat telt natuurlijk voor heel wat.

de favoriet van mij (Daan) was een Chrysler LHS van voor de facelift. die van Glenn was het een rode Toyota Previa die tweede werd in het Concours D'Ordinaire.

misschien komt er nog een tweede post, maar we gaan sowieso proberen er volgend jaar weer bij te zijn.

One of the few cars that will start a forest fire if you park it in dry grass. Exhaust gets very hot and suspension goes down. Genius French engineering at work!

ik mocht de nieuwe Renault Twingo testen! ik hoef jullie niet te vertellen hoe leuk hij is, maar dat ga ik later toch doen in een artikel op kekkekarren.nl. ondertussen heb ik hier alvast wat voorproefjes: originele 90s persfoto's in een nieuw jasje.

onder regie van @glennslopsma en met hulp van modellen @jellevanuem , @stendrt en @roel_siebrand (@zoabmagazine). de groene Twingo is van Jelle. er is ook nog een blauwe Twingo, die is van @lisavdlem maar die komt pas in de verdere foto's tevoorschijn.

👋🏻 Say hello to my new (to me) Honda Civic!

I actually had this for like a year already, but I never had the time to get it roadworthy. I still barely have time, but somehow it worked out.

So how and why? It was owned by an 88-year-old family member of a friend of mine. She decided she wanted to stop driving and sell her car. I wasn't really interested at first, but then I learned that this car was bought new by her in 1997. In my hometown! (See slide 16&17) Also: great spec and it was always stored inside (last slide). Had to check it out and could not resist.

I bought it for cheap, but I did have to spend 4x the purchase price to have all the dents and scratches removed. It looks great now though. The 'Milano Red' still shines bright, unlike on most 90's red cars. Interior is pristine and everything is original, including the optional Pioneer radio. Also nice (especially now): it has A/C. My favourite detail of all is the original bright red spare key. Still in its packaging after 28 years!

The plan is to now restore the technical side and look for some original hubcaps. Would be fun to have one of the last completely original and unmodified EK Civics in the world!
