My artist 2025 was a year of tremendous growth. I launched my website (which I need to update but still, progress). I did a Black History Month series featuring some of my favorite Black artists, I got to see the work of one of my favorite black artists, went to several amazing museums and I even displayed my work in a show for the first time. Some of the most amazingly supportive figure models were gracious enough to allow me to paint them, and with their help I deepened my digital painting skills, picked up oil sticks as a new medium and learned how to incorporate them into my oil painting. I even randomly took a few crochet lessons (though I still need much more practice to be able to actually make something lol). I was blessed with an amazing artist community who've shared their art practice, invested their time and given me so much guidance. They've been some of the most encouraging, non judgmental and supportive people I've ever had the experience of being vulnerable sharing my art with. Most of all though, I have to give a singular shoutout to my fiancé @velvetyteddyy , to whom I owe so much of my inspiration, has given honest objective feedback and has always supported and shared my work. I wouldn't be the artist I am today without her. Thank you to everyone whose ever liked, commented or shared something ive posted. That support means the world to me, especially on a meta app that's shown itself to be hostile to artists doing simple posts instead of "content creation". I have so much more in store for 2026 and I cant wait to share it. by @glenrobinsonart
I didn't get to post much for Women's History month so here's a portrait of Toni Morrison that I recently finished. by @glenrobinsonart
I didn't last year so I just HAD to do something for Black History Month this time around. I actually started this a looooong time ago back when I was first learning how to oil paint during the pandemic. I though @beyonce on the cover of British Vogue was one of her best looks so I had to capture it. This is for you @jamaicanmusicgal. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 11 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. I was thinking of that old saying "makin somethin out of nothin" and decided to recycle a canvas that I used to test some oil sticks a while back. The challenge of incorporating old marks into something new was fun. Thank you @earth.n.magic for the reel that inspired this mini painting. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 10 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. Looking to incorporate Southern Gothic Horror into the work (tis the spooky season) and learning how to show soft lighting in darkness properly. Sodt pastels with alcohol wash again, this time with sanded paper, much easier this time. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 9 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. I occasionally do floral sketches and paintings as well. This is of jalap, the flowers of the plant the High John the Conqueror root comes from. The High John root has strong connections to use in hoodoo, with some even believing High John's spirit could be summoned and used for guidance and protection. Practitioners placed High John roots inside mojo bags to harness this protection and for good luck. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 8 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. Still catching up, paying tribute to Zora Neale Hurston, her research and anthropology work were invaluable in understanding Black American and Carribean cultural and religious practices. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 7 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. This ones also late but ill catch up. Exploring the concept of "you are the altar" here and remembering that we are future ancestors as well. I may work on this more but I like the rawness of it. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 6 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. Posting late but better late than never. Honoring the ancestor Fannie Lou Hamer for her late birthday (yesterday). by @glenrobinsonart
Day 5 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. Another baptismal scene. Something about water in art has being calling me lately, I think I need to go deeper into it. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 4 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. Kept it light and sketched today. Still getting though Conjuring of America, amazing book. by @glenrobinsonart
Day 3 of art for Hoodoo Heritage month. No art today though, just the current reading list for the month. by @glenrobinsonart
