Welcome! I’m Kaitlyn, proud mama to my toddler Hudson. I’m a stay at home mom who’s never at home. 😂😂 I’ve spent the past year finding all kinds of great adventures for us in RVA and am here to invite you to follow along for the ride! @perkbonair is a delicious coffee shop in RVA that’s the perfect coffee shop to bring your toddler! 🥪They have delicious drinks as well as breakfast and lunchbox options. The dinosaur-shaped grilled cheese was a hit with my 2-year-old! 🪑They have lots of seating throughout, with some comfy chairs and kids table in the back. He was entertained for so long by the toys and books back there, and I got to enjoy my food and drink! We absolutely loved walking the loop around Echo Lake Park in @henricorecparks! It is such a great toddler-friendly hike! 🚶Less than a mile loop around Echo Lake 🛘Some paved and some gravel/dirt paths so jogging stroller recommended) 🛝 Two playgrounds, pavilions, and bathroom at the end of the path (can always go right when you enter the park to go straight to the playground) 🌳Fully shaded path and playgrounds! 🪑Multiple benches along the path for a break 🦆Chance to see wildlife (we saw ducks!) ⚠️ One caution- be careful on the fishing pier! @sandventurebus is officially open here in RVA and is such a cool play space for little ones! This bus is Virginia’s first mobile sandbox, and honestly- it’s such a good idea! 📘 Classes: They offer 40-minute classes for ages 2-7 that help foster sensory, fine-motor skills, and social skills 🦖 Themes: They have 5 different themes they rotate every 2 weeks: Dino Dig, Construction, Under the Sea, Savannah, and Outer Space. 🫧 Cleanliness: Their bus is squeaky-clean as they clean toys each time and clean the sand weekly. Plus the sand is non-toxic premium Baha sand- perfect for playing in, easy to dust off, and super clean! ☀️ Climate-controlled: the bus is climate controlled so there is AC in the summer and heat in the winter- perfect for sand play year-round! 🏠Sandventure Bus partners with daycares and preschools to conduct classes. They also have a partnership with Starbucks to accommodate stay at home kids via classes in their parking lot. @greatbiggreenhouse in Chesterfield, VA is a festive fall adventure with Halloween activities for FREE! We did a scavenger hunt, maze, played in the spooky school bus, and of course spent so much time at the bouncy house! Be sure to also check out all the amazing plants and pumpkins they have for sale! This year the theme is Toy Story and they did such a good job with it! I was blown away by the massive Woody character they made! @shooflyfarmvirginia is a family-owned farm in Chester, VA that serves as an active animal sanctuary. They are open on Saturdays and often have special events on Saturdays. They are also open the first Friday of every month for FREE. We went today for their First Fridays and had so much fun! We got to feed the animals, explore the grounds, play in the corn pit, and did a horse ride! You can also fish in their pond. @tyrannosaurustot is the cutest Children’s Bookstore that opened up in Northside Richmond in August. They have a great book selection and comfy reading spaces. They also have fun sensory bins to play in! 📕 Tyrannosaurus Tot also does classes throughout the week for kids of all ages! We attended the Toddler Book Play Class today and had the best time! They were super understanding of toddler’s attention levels and were so kind and personable! @timbernookrva is an incredible outdoor nature-based play program in RVA! They have outdoor classes and camps for all ages, and are starting a toddler class in October. @toddlertriberva got to experience a sneak peak of the outdoor toddler class today and had the best time! We took a short walk though the woods, did a song and story time, and then the rest of the time was independent play time! TimberNook had a carefully thought out selection of open-ended outdoor play materials for the kids to explore. They highly encourage parents to sit back and observe so kids are able to focus on independent play- as that is really where so much learning happens at this age! They also gave us tips for how to encourage independent play at home. They are starting a 3-week toddler class in October and it looks like so much fun!
